My opinion,226 to 230,mostly due to...Rep candidates' impotency & cannibalism between Reps & Tea Party firecrackers...
Otherwise,I would forecast even a Rep takeover...

your pick is probably pretty close, I voted just enough to hold on, but certainly not the reason you are thinking. The Republicans will be out in full force regardless of right or left, Tea baggers or RINOs. The reason Dems will probably hold on: the gap is awfully large to expect a take-over by the Republicans. The will close, but not do a switch.

I figure about a 10% loss, to about 225.

Its actually 255-177, will be 255-178 after Tuesday's GA-9 runoff. Baring any resignations or deaths from now until Election Day it will be 255-178 with two vacancies (IN-3 and NY-29), one vacancy from each party, so 256-179 if you count in the vacancies to the previous holder of the seat. I would say now the GOP will have a net gain of 20 seats or so, putting the Dems in the low to mid 230's.

As a staunch Democrat, I see Less than 218 - Rep majority as the worst case scenario and 218 to 225 as the best case scenario.

I hope for the latter or even better, but my gut is telling me the Republicans will take the House in November.

BTW Larry Sabato is currently projecting 218-225. His website is http://www.centerforpolitics.com/crystalball .

I pretty much trust whatever he says because he's pretty much always right.

I voted 226-230....probably should have voted 231-235. I think its going to be around 230. When Scott Brown was elected to the U.S. Senate, I heard some people say that it was a sign of the country going "more Republican". I don't necessarily agree...I think it may mean the country is going more independent. This to me is a wildcard...I think we may see a change in voter attitude towards the incumbents of each party, but I'm not sure how much, or which party will be affected more.

Because of the hold the Democrats have now it only makes sense the Republicans will pick up a large number of seats. If the feeling is oust the imcumbants wouldn't that be the logical change plus independents, at this point, are more inclined to vote Republican. Of course, as we have always said, even 5 months can make a huge difference.
