Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck suddenly elevated the culture wars from minor player to center stage in the Senate race today when he compared homosexuality to alcoholism in a nationally televised debate.
Appearing with Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet in a 27-minute showdown on Meet the Press, Buck responded to a question from host David Gregory by saying that he believed homosexuality was a choice but had limited biological influences "like alcoholism and some other things."
this is not typical of todays Republicans or any other day's Republicans and I am sure many, if not all, hope he gets his ass kicked on November 2nd.
He won't get his ass kicked, and he may win. The polls put the race within the margin of error right now. People have started voting in CO. In fact, we got our ballots before he said that.
They didn't choose to be gay. Not to mention the comparison to alcoholism is beyond insane.
How do you know, were they there? I know a girl who was married, got divorced and is now in a homo relationship. She chose to be gay. I'll try and find a link where Sheryl Swoopes (woman bball player) says that she chose to be gay. I'm sure many didn't, but many did too.

Swoopes, honored last month as the WNBA's Most Valuable Player, told ESPN The Magazine for a story on newsstands Wednesday that she didn't always know she was gay and fears that coming out could jeopardize her status as a role model.
"Do I think I was born this way? No," Swoopes said. "And that's probably confusing to some, because I know a lot of people believe that you are."
Swoopes, who was married and has an 8-year-old son, said her 1999 divorce "wasn't because I'm gay."
She said her reason for coming out now is merely because she wants to be honest.
I know several people that have chosen to be in gay relationships. Why does this bother you so much?
Because it they can make people believe you are born gay, then you can make homosexuality into a protected class of people. Bottom line, if it's not a choice, then it's a mental/genetic disorder. You can't have it both ways that it's not a choice and not some kind of disorder. I know Pittston2Sarasota is probably gonna bring links up to the contrary, but I don't think Pitts knows that the APA is a politically biased organization and that homosexuality was removed from the DSM in the 1980s after gay political activist groups put pressure on the APA to remove the classification
