"U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman has tendered his resignation, opening the door to a possible run for the presidency. Huntsman is a former governor of Utah who gave up that position to become U.S. ambassador to China in 2009. When Huntsman took the job, the White House was seen as taking a potential tough opponent out of the field in 2012, and it remains unclear how Huntsman would explain his work for the administration to conservative GOP primary voters. Should he run, Huntsman will pitch his extensive foreign policy credentials, which are easily the deepest among the current GOP field. Said one GOP strategist, earlier Monday, who's aligned with the pro-Huntsman crowd: 'He was a hugely successful and popular governor, with a solid record. So, maybe he's similar to Romney in some sense, but he doesn't have an Obama-like healthcare plan to explain.'"
I am. I posted an earlier article on him that didn't get much play. That was the first time I had heard of him. I am disturbed about the illegal immigration stance which would be a "no" for me but, I am willing to look at his other credentials a little further.
I guess the WH is a bit miffed the guy has turned in his resignation and will likely run. For some reason they consider that a betrayal, yet they have no problem dangling a posh position in order to try and clear him from the field.
This is the guy Plouffe said he was most scared of. So I guess they thought they would get rid of him by offering an ambassadorship to China.
What they have done instead is to give him the foreign policy credentials he needed.

It was pretty much expected from the start that Hunstman would serve for two years orso. This doesn't surprise or miff anyone.
White House officials are furious at what they consider an audacious betrayal, but know that any public criticism would be likely to benefit Huntsman if he enters the primaries.
As I said, this is the man plouffe said was his only concern as far as GOP candidates.
I am going to think long and hard on this. At first, I was really excited but I guess it is the old saying, "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is...." Either mormon is too soft on illegal immigration for me.
baggers don't really like him. doesn't have great cred on redstate from what i've noticed when his name has popped up in the past (not related to elections or anything).
