Not a fan of Kinky Friedman myself and not sure what to think of this endorsement. This all just gets stranger and stranger.
Well the positive thing about the endorsement: it shows that people in Texas that keep posting how much he is disliked, might need to re-think their views. Other than that I am not sure it means much either way, but it certainly is interesting.
Perry has a long road ahead of him with the GOP...
and who do you think will get the nomination? Can you explain why? Of course you can hope he won't but you are not going to vote for any Republican so why do you even care?
hotair, unless you live in Texas its unlikely you've heard of TEXAS Monthly. That still doesn't change the fact that its a really, really good magazine. I've heard people call it ultra left, but that's a joke. Its leans left but mostly just calls out BS in general.
But to the point, its no surprise that Kinky would endorse Perry seeing as how he helped re-elect him in 2006.
Thankfully, I don't live in Texas. So maybe that is why I never heard of the magazine. I have heard of Kinky though, he is mostly considered a joke.

There are a lot of California liberals in Austin. It's the "go-to city" for Californians trying to escape the financial burdens of living in California. They run to red states and set up liberal enclaves. Too bad they never stop and ask themselves why it's so expensive to live in California.

I know, our daughter almost got a job in Austin and she was torn: she lives in the Dallas area, knew the Austin job would be a golden opportunity, but the last place she wanted to live was a place with Ca transplants that libs.

Had a golden opportunity, but did not take it because she might be exposed to liberals? That is kind of sad. Is she afraid she might catch something?
She should be really careful. There are a lot of Liberals in Dallas as well. She might actually be exposed to a liberal...heaven forbid such a thing.

No, I didn't say that: she didn't get the job, what I said was she was concerned she might and of course she would have taken it, plus at her age and in her line of work, she has been exposed to about every type of person there is, liberal, conservative, people of all walks of life and from all over the world. Until recently she traveled about 70% of the time (mostly to the far east, mid east and Eurpore, plus living in So Amer and Poland. She just prefered not to live in a city that was quite as liberal as Austin. I think she knows Dallas pretty well, she has lived there for 26 years.

Well I am farily liberal, but would choose Dallas over Austin. Just more things to do.

hotair, have you lived in either place? I don't think you have..I will also add, Dallas has changed over the years as well, what it was in 1985 and is now are 2 different cities in many ways, plus Dallas has more suburbs that are still very conservative. Anyway, I simply mentioned how liberal Austin is, like many college towns, so I think we are getting pretty far off subject.
