hotair, have you lived in either place? I don't think you have..I will also add, Dallas has changed over the years as well, what it was in 1985 and is now are 2 different cities in many ways, plus Dallas has more suburbs that are still very conservative. Anyway, I simply mentioned how liberal Austin is, like many college towns, so I think we are getting pretty far off subject.

I have lived all over the country and you should know that. I have relatives that live in Dallas...some are conservative and others are liberal. The liberal ones live in the city and the conservative ones live in the suburbs, which is the way that it is in most large cities. Dallas is no different. Fort Worth is a lot more conservative and Red Neck, but in Dallas you get a very good mix.

i do know that but I never remembered you living in Dallas. AS for where conservatives versus liberals live, yes, you are right and you are right about FT Worth being more conservative. But along with that, you have all of Terrant County and Collin County as well as Denton County. All are majority conservative. The liberals in Dallas are consintrated in Oak Lawn and similar areas, maybe Richardson and Garland is probably about split.

I have never lived in Dallas, but I do visit my relatives there. The point I was making is that there are a fair amount of liberals in Dallas. I think my prior post was a little hypocritical now that I think about it. I feel the same way about living around a bunch of bible thumping conservatives as your daughter does being around liberals...maybe more so, but I would never let them get in the way of something that I wanted to do.

this is my last word on this: you are missing the point: she probably would have taken the job as it would have sealed her retirement and future, but she wasn't excited about Austin. That was my point, it is much more liberal than the Dallas area.
