Nevertheless, he is correct. Social Security robs Peter to pay Paul. Bernie Madoff was doing nothing more than our own government has been doing to us for decades. If what Madoff did was criminal, then so are the actions of our government.

Regardless this position will cost him the election if he becomes the GOP nominee.

It is. Educated people will support and vote for someone who speaks the truth even when it's not pretty.

It is a ponzi scheme, I hear people whine "I paid into it, its my money". No actually you paid for the people before you, and when you retire somebody wil be paying for you.(Maybe) When all the baby boomers retire there won't be enough workers to support them. And when I retire there probably won't be any social security.

Whether it is a Ponzi scheme or not is irrelevant. Congress passed it, Roosevelt signed it, people have paid into it. The Federal Govt now "owns" it.

The original recipient of SS benefits was Ida May Fuller.

She paid in a total of $22.

She collected $20,944 over her lifetime.

Who paid for her?

It is unsustainable.

He's only doing it to try to steal thunder from Ron Paul. Perry is a huge, establishment prostitute.

Rick Perry is the American equivalent of British PM David Cameron when it comes to "airbrushing"* himself according to the audience he wants to pander to that day.

Replace just Cameron with Perry and it's the same thing.

*The whole airbrushing campaign strategy by Labour was that Cameron was accused of whoring himself out to whatever audience he is speaking to. Here's a video.

Dave the Chameleon. Another Labour Party campaign strategy pointing out how Dave fine tuned his speeches and actions to fit the audience he was trying to get the attention of. The parallels between Cameron and Perry are astounding

The baby boomers are a huge population bubble. The boomers drove our economy to unimagined heights in the 70s thru the 90s. Now that boomer bubble will put a heavy strain on the medicare and social security system as these folks get older and retire. Once the front end of the boomers start to die off, the system as is, will regain stability and be self sustaining with small tweaks.
Right wing Republicans are using the boomer population bubble as an excuse to further their agenda of dismantling all government run social programs. If the right wing has it's way, they will dismantle Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, Veteran's Care, Birth Control, the Education System, Repeal the 16th and 17th Amendment, Unemployment Insurance and any other tax payer funded program that is based on serving the best interests of the nation as a whole. Don't be fooled by the rhetoric.
