I'm channeling my inner Dave Carney, and wanted to find out a little bit more about the Ron Paul supporter base. Specifically, to all you Ron Paul supporters out there:

If Ron Paul didn't win the GOP nomination, would you vote for him if he ran as an independent? If not, where would your vote go? Democrat or Republican?

The reason I ask may not be completely obvious, but I guarantee it will become relevant come this time next year. For those who want to learn more about why I'm asking, read one of the following article about the new "Karl Rove":

The Outsider - The Texas Observer

No offense, but it's a non issue. He said he wont run as 3rd party.

None taken. But remember that Perry had said he wouldn't run for president as recently as just a couple of months ago... so anything is possible. Also, Ron Paul supporters control the Paul campaign, not Paul himself.

They very well may run him as an independent, or have a write-in campaign, with or without his permission. Especially if they had a little financial help from Team Perry.

It will be interesting to see. He's not running again for congress and if he does well, perhaps placing in the top three and the funds are still coming in, I bet he may run as a third party candidate.

Has he said why he isn't running for congress again? Is it because he wants to focus 100% on the presidential election, or just that he's ready to retire from congress?

Looks to be. At his age he's at the point of going all in for the presidency, or just call it quits to retire completely. This is why I think he will in fact go for running as a 3rd party candidate if he continues to do well.

Please do not compare the word of Rick "Bailout" Perry to Ron Paul. Perry is a grandstanding fraud.

Why does the OP make these polls but never includes 3rd party?

Pool is misleading and bias.

How about adding on that will vote for Paul only?

I would vote for Ron Paul, but if he didn't run as an Indy - I would vote Libertarian again.
