I am also a moderate----looking for somebody to really rally behind and say to myself---yeah, bring it on.

Obama is not it-----yet none of the repubs so far get me interested----certainly not Rick Perry----he has had more zig zags and flip flops than anybody.

I like Huntsman but he is too logical for the repubs.

I want somebody who will change the course of rampant deficit spending----yet I dont want a flame thrower, a six shooter, somebody with a holster full of slogans and trigger points.

Somebody, committed to sound realistic change, done in a pragmatic and intelligent manner needs to step forward-----aha----in this political climate that is unlikely to happen.

Thus, the bottom line is, be prepared for an amusement park ride of your life during the next year.

I cannot get behind Romney, Bachmann is of course only there for entertainment value, and the rest are irrelevant.

Rick Perry seems like the only valid choice to run as the Republican candidate BUT the immigration-thing makes my blood boil.

(I'm a moderate, but nothing can make me vote for that in-over-his-head mistake who currently is in the Oval Office.)

Does anyone else feel this is Perry's one big flaw?

(Yes, if you are a liberal or an Obama fan or the like,
you will have all kinds of comments about the wonders of illegal immigration,
how horrible the Republicans are, how wonderful the prez is, etc etc etc.
However, this thread is not about that; please reread if unclear. )
Yes, I have trouble with his stand on immegration as well. I do not think we can send 20 mil people back to their homelands, I would rather see those with the ability to do well in school go to college than work at a fast food resaturant, but I certainly do not love his idea about immigration. OUr son in law (who lives in Texas) love Perry but has a huge problem with this issue. That is probably the only problem I have with him.

But aren't there times when federal aid is legit and needed? This really doesn't bother me at all...

I blame both sides all the time and I agree, they are all the same.

Rick Perry doesn't believe in evolution. He hosted a prayer apalooza for rain in Texas. And you think his greatest flaw is his immigration policy?? Seriously??

That would be a bad thing if TX tax dollars weren't taken by DC in the first place. I'm sure he'd be happy to skip asking for federal aid if they would just let TX keep their money. After it's laundered by the bureaucrats, of course.

Does your state ask for federal aid?

Actually, States can enforce immigration law according to the Supreme Court. Providing that State immigration law is not any stricter than the existing federal immigration law.

In other words, if the federal immigration law requires all legal residents to have in their poccession the paperwork necessary to prove they are legally in the US (which it does), but the feds to do not include a penalty for NOT carrying the required paperwork, then the States cannot create a law that penalizes people for not carrying the required paperwork. Which is what the AZ HB1070 attempted to do, and that is why the courts struck down that provision.

You guys are way too transparent.
He's won every election in Texas. Go ask your average independent voter how much they'd like to emulate Texas.

If you call rebutting with facts and reasoning an attack, so be it.

Oh, you just way and see. Honestly, I have a feeling Perry won't get the nomination. He won't appeal to the average independent. If he does get it, good luck Republicans.
