Good move Perry. Everyone knows that Texas is not prone to wildfires...DUH!
Mr. Perry cut expense due to $$ constrants.
The Anointed One (obama for the ignorant) borrowed more $$ for our grandkids to pay back.
Texas has $$ in the bank, we actually have a workable budget.

obama ?

Oh Perry took a few days off to skip a debate to go back for some photo ops. What a leader.
Sounds like he's getting ready to be president. Isn't that what Obama has done for the last 2.5 years?

Republican logic

Bastrop county is reduced to cinders, but hey we got a rainy day fund.

Really... I'm pretty sure Perry had to use a ton of stimulus funds from the Fed and dipping into the our rainy day fund just to balance the budget. Not to mention across the board cuts in state spending.

At a press conference Monday, Perry promised to seek federal disaster relief and said that FEMA would be in the state by Wednesday.
While the Texas governor has been highly critical of FEMA in the past, he dodged questions from CBS’ Erica Hill on Tuesday's 'Early Show,' insisting that now was not the time to worry about reforming the agency.

At some point, he will have to debate, which he refused to do when running for Gov. He will also have to answer questions regarding his decision to cut firefighting funds; his constant slander of 'big government handouts' and of FEMA.

Dog this SOB mercilessly.

Bastrop county is 896 square miles, the fires have burned about 14,000 acres... Let's be a little more honest with the exaggerations can we?

Actually it has burned about 33,500 acres now (more then twice your number and more then any fire in Texas history) Texas wildfires kill 2, burn thousands of acres | todaysthv.com and the fire is still growing. Once more that is only one of many fires in Texas (since December more then 3 million acres have burnt). I would think that your state being on fire would probably be a reason to use an emergency fund, but who knows maybe Perry is relying on his prayers for rain and holding out for the apocalypse.

It's sad how it seems the right only votes for the party and not the candidate. I can't wait to see Perry explaining his dubious actions, he's nothing but an opportunists.

The subject of where the funding finally comes from has nothing whatsoever to do with how the firefighters are supplied and how they fight the fire. TX is paying for what needs to be paid for, Perry is simply asking FEMA to give TX back enough of TX's money to cover 75% of the cost of these fires.
