What would be the point? A far left Progressive by any other name is still a global Marxist/statist. Obama is using the Clinton machine for his cabinet & staffers. The agenda's would be the same.
Get rid of Progressivism. Switching Obama out for Hillary, Romney, or Perry and the result will be largely more of the same.
Hillary Clinton, Samantha Powers, and Susan Rice are, along with Obama, largely the reason Congress was bypassed on Libya. The playbook was taken straight from Bill Clinton's invasion of Bosnia via NATO and the UN.
Oh, the Hillary fantasy again... As Hillary herself put it, some believe that if Hillary were president;

What do you get if you cross Mitt Romney with Rick Perry ------Hillary Clinton. Democrats do not want Hillary. If they did, she would already be in the White House. Now they may go for Kucinich or Sanders.
These calls for Obama to step down...for someone on the left to challenge him for the Democratic Nomination...notice they all come from the partisan right?
Maybe they're finally waking up to the fact that as bad as they perceive Obama to be as president of the United States, the Tea Party Cult is going to force through an unelectable presidential nomination.
Obama rode a wave of excited young voters turning out and huge independent support. People wanted to make history. That has 0% chance of happening for him again in 2012.
However, if Hillary is in the race... all of the sudden, you can build up the same historic significance, excite normally uninterested young and independent voters... plus give democrats a little bit of hope to improve turnout on their side. It would completely change the dynamic of the race.
Otherwise, current GOP momentum wins easily. They will have an excited base and they will attract some share of independents who were disappointed in their '08 pick.
Even the Republican Party's pet pollsters show their potential nominees running at best neck and neck with Obama. The Republican nominees have been campaigning for months; Obama's just now started.
The only one who is currently polling ahead of Obama is Mitt Romney - and the Christian core will never back (in their view) a non-Christian.
The momentum from 2010 - present, including the upcoming potential GOP net gain of Rep Weiner's seat in NY. I guess you could also call the loss of congressional seats and Obama's increasing unpopularity as a downward momentum for the democrats... either way, the momentum is in the GOP's favor.

More recent polls show both Perry and Romney beating Obama, and some even show most GOP candidates running within the margin of error with Obama. But more importantly, pretty much all polls show "generic republican" beating Obama handily... and the eventual nominee will approach those numbers, when the GOP race is decided.
