You really believe that? It wasn't long ago that everyone thought the Republican party was dead and that Dems would be in control for the next 20 years. Things change very quickly in politics. Of course, you're assuming that Obama will lose and I'm not fully convinced he will. His approval rating is not great but we won't really know what his chances are until we know who he's running against. If it's anybody other Mitt Romney or Jon Hunstman, he has a real chance to win a second term.

and you really believe the only ones that can give him a run for his money is Romney or Huntsman? could your view be based on knowing they are the two most liberal candidates and they lean closer to what you would like to see? Right now all any of us have to go on is speculation, but most, even the commintators feel Obama is going to have a fight unless things change drastically in the next 6 months or so. Changing next summer will be too late.

You need to win independent votes to win a general election. There's no way independents will vote for Bachmann, Perry, et al.
