no it doesn't, not one bit. You can think his religious ideas and praying is nutty, your choice, but it does not affect his ability to be President. When he forced everyone to get on their knees and pray (which would not happen) that is different. Let's put it this way: if a person is running for Pres and he/she is an atheist or agnostic would that affect their being PRes? Would you support them? If the answer is yes, then explain how Perry's asking for rain or praying for rain or asking everyone to pray for rain would affect us as a nation? You can't!!!!

What are you really afraid of? If you are so sure of your beliefs, this should make any difference at all to you.
This is just nutty to me. It's one thing to have a personal belief in "God", but to issue an official proclamation to pray for rain seems bizarre.
And this proclamation was in April. Given the recent fires in Texas, I guess praying doesn't work. How shocking.
Just another cynical attempt by Perry to use religion to get votes. He gambled that it would rain, and the Tea Party types would then say that Perry has a pipeline to God, and therefore Perry is obviously God's choice to be President.

I am afraid of living in a theocracy....I am afraid of christian religious freaks...they are very intolerant of anyone who isn't bowing their heads and praying THEIR WAY.
I'm afraid of a president who would put his faith in prayer, which is stupid, and not use actions which get things done for ALL Americans.
I am afraid of religious freaks like Bachmann having any public position at all...anyone who thinks women are "less than" men shouldn't have any power whatsoever. Her sick beliefs are sure to taint her views on women and legislation.
That isn't the religion forum but, I will say this. A lot of atheists have this misconception that if you pray for something it'll magically happen and you'll get everything you want if you pray for it. That's not true at all, just like atheists also have this weird misconception that all Christians are just, pious people that can do no wrong unless something is wrong with Christianity. Not true either, as Christians are also humans that are susceptible to sin just as anyone else is, being a Christian doesn't automatically make one a saint.
Anyways, just trying to clear up common mistakes that atheists assume of Christianity. Have a nice evening

Not only did he give the yeh to move forward with the execution, but he went so far as to immediately change things in a commission that would have reviewed the new scientific evidence that would have cleared Willingham of intentionally burning to death his daughters.

If that's what you refer to being Christian what the heck do you call non-Christian.
This has nothing to do with an innocent man put to death (which btw is not proven by any stretch of the imagination and he the jury put the guy to death, not Perry) This post is about praying for rain, who give a damn, if he wants to pray for rain or pray for the leaves to turn purple this year. This has nothing to do with him running for pres, but nice try....When you can't answer a question you either spin or change the subject.
