You're the ones inhabiting mostly the left half of the IQ bell curve, and I'm saying that from personal experience rather than a simple intent to insult - ever read the "Obamba" comments that follow after EVERY news article on the internet no matter how unrelated to politics? I've seen numerous such posts on articles ranging from crocodiles found in Chicage to the rise in the price of coffee ..... literally EVERY news article with a comments section has these, and they're almost all remarkably stupid. Add to that the fact that low income people have easily been manipulated to vote with Republicans against their own interests, and fundamentalist Christians have been manipulated to think that overseas wars (on people who are not attacking us and are no threat), are a better way to spend tax dollars than Social Security for the elderly and disabled.
Rightwingers have also been propagandized into thinking that there is no anthropogenic global warming that the international community should address, despite there being an overwhelming consensus among climatologists that there is true planetary catastrophe ahead of us. The reason they all laugh at the experts is "because they have a liberal agenda".

But you are correct that the liberals and socialists I've know could not win out in a direct armed conflict against conservatives and rightwingers. Plus the rightwingers are a sizable majority in the military and police. Much worse than that we are losing the propaganda wars, mainly because we're not as vicious as our adversaries nor do we use cheap rhetorical tricks as often ....... reasonable and rational arguments have never been popular with the general public, and less so now that anti-intellectualism and anti-scientific beliefs are on the rise. Many conservatives seriously believe that the Earth was formed 6000-10,000 years ago!
I think the US will descend into thirdworld status, while the commie socialist godless gay countries of Europe will overcome their problems AND keep their universal healthcare. It's funny how people who follow basic spiritual principles such as compassion for their fellow human beings, often win out and have a happier society than those who believe in a dog-eat-dog libertarian world where only the strongest and meanest survive.
