Obama's anti Israel stance and pro gay marriage stance did him in.
it was a state senator from the Bronx (who probably didn't make a real difference I don't think he changed as many votes as turner won by though I wont know for sure till the numbers come out (though added together with what everyone else did at marriage was the most important unreported till recently issue in this race))
the place where this made the difference is the Orthodox Jewish communty where was a strong anti weprin campaign going on since he got the nomination (NOM helped tremendously bringing in money helping to get out the vote)

and read this interview with Weprin on page 15 (I don't think anyone ever got so many question related to SSM in a newspaper outside of a gay one)
Hamodia Digital Edition

If Weprin had no problem with this one issue he would have aced the Orthodox vote instead of doing as bad as 10-20% there, and now be the congressman elect in NY9.

(Democrats are already blaming New York Democratic nominee David Weprin’s vote for same-sex marriage from when he was in the state Assembly for alienating Jewish voters.)

When this debateoccured in NY I posted that while NYC has a reputation of being liberal that the only real support for same sex marriage is primarily confined to Manhattan. NYC outside of Manhattan is relatively conservative folks just vote Democrat because of family, union or ethnic loyalties.

Same sex marriage is not going to be the boon that Cuomo thinks it will be for his Presedential ambitions in fact his passing the law will all but prevent him from ever sitting inside the White House as President.

Actually gay marriage is already legal in Mexico City. So at least the largest city in Mexico is ahead of 44 U.S. states. Amazing and sad, I know.

I agree it is very sad (for the other 6 states (especially NY) and Mexico City)

That's right and BHO had nothing to do with it.

Any law passed by one congress can be repealed by the next. Laws are not forever.
