He campaigned for and won 4 presidential elections. He served 3 terms, dying shortly after being elected for the 4th time.
And immediately after, they changed the law (22nd amendment under Truman) so it would never happen again.

One cannot simply state that 'FDR cancelled two elections" because one believes that there was no way he wouldn't get re-elected.
