The skeletons in this guys closet are insurmountable when they are vetted before the American public.
I've been hearing and reading "hints" that there is something out there about Perry that could be quite shocking. I don't have a clue what it's about but one person who dropped a hint is a well-respected progressive radio personality. Not of the rant and rave type but one who I think is considered by most to be quite rational.
How were they supposed to comment on settlements that had confidentiality agreements?
What were they suposed to say?
They did comment, but did a horrible job of dealing with it. They had 10 days to come up with some sort of strategy, but both himself and his staff seemed totally unprepared.
Well:
First, the Cain Campaign denied the report but refused to get into details. When Cain was asked if he ever been accused of sexually harassing anyone, he simply asked the reporter if they had ever been accused of sexually harassing anyone.
2nd, Cain then changed and said he had been falsely accused of sexual harassment and was unaware of any settlement, but hoped the NRA did not pay out too much because nothing happened.
3rd He told Fox News that there was a cash payout to a woman who accused him of sexual harassment. It turns out in 2003 he told his campaign manager there was a cash payout, and now accuses that person of leaking the story.
4th, later that day he went in to great detail about the woman, how she did her job poorly and that he admitted saying something about comparing her height to his wife's and that she took out of context.
All this can be looked up online. If it was nothing and he did nothing wrong, why not say the from the start, instead of going on the attack, playing the race card, blaming the left and now blaming the Perry campaign. Its like he is angry the told the world is dirty little secret.
This specific issue won't sink Cain's candidacy. His utter lack of political experience will. It's clear that he's running essentially an ad hoc campaign. And while that generates some populist appeal compared to the fake veneer of a slick and polished politician, at the end of the day people want a competent leader. They don't want someone who looks like he will be governing by the seat of his pants, and right now that's the message Cain's campaign is sending.

Who wants a leader who will lead no differently than Obama?
