Ok Its time for a history lesson since I want to put this currently policy with the ash heap of flawed government intervention.

After World World 2 the military was cut 50% because it was not needed and we weren't involved in every country. We made a treaty with Japan to defend them and Europe via NATO. That was more then 50 plus years ago. I think at this point Japan can defend itself and has moved to a country of peace and democracy for sometime now. Europe needs to defend itself clearly we will always be READY to fight and DEFEND UNITED STATES Borders and our country if such a hilter should arise thou that does not happen over night. All the more reason europe should be ready to defend itself and not be like FRANCE.
Since world world 2 America's LEADERS support any and all military action to keep funding and supporting PROGRAMS such as NATO. Why? Because it gives something for the military to do, expands the government role in the world and at home. Its not really for our security or our freedom most of the wars have been for other countries internal issues and its own civil wars.
The problem is each new adminstrator has moved further away from defending our nation and getting involved in other nations affairs. Its not in the constitution and no authority to use the UN and or any other international reasons to use tax dollars and authority for acts of war. The united states should have a few goals in the world, have open communications with all nations, free trade and its own self determination. Most of all should have the best defense against all invading enemies and or insurrections within our country. But, instead thru the American history our leaders have supported DICTATORS, Thugs, drug lords, supported both sides of a civil war within other countries, pretends to support democracy in the middle east yet sends billions in foregin aid to arab countries and the enemies of israel. We changed the regime in IRAN against the will of its own people. then killed the people we put in power, then the people of IRAN revolted and put in the extremist they have now. Then we supported Saddam to fight IRAN and the extremists gave him all those weapons who he later used on IRAN and its own people who supported IRAN or different political parties in IRAQ. We trained and funded Bin Liden to defeat Russia while they invaded Afghan for 10 years then later Bin Liden turned his hate and anger at us over bases in the holy land and our support for dictators we work with. This failed policy continued with Bosnia, Somila funding thugs and ethnic cleansing supporting both sides. Now this government has a hard time runing this nation and I know we don't like them running our lives, they waste money, have nothing but a bunch of idiots in washington who look to destory indiviudal freedoms yet we let them try and "solve the problems of the world" The government can't even run a lemonade stand and we have to support their flip flopping, corrupt verison of nation building, intervention and supporting the troops which actually only benefit the few. While looking for the boogeyman under our beds Americans will give up reason and sanity to believe this powerful force called washington have any idea what they are doing. Men of character and men and women of reason are no longer listened too because people have forgotten their own history, have no idea what the government has done and would rather sing god bless america and wave a flag. If you want to be a patriot, restore our sanity and only get involved in other nations PROBLEMS when they ACTUALLY EFFECT our security and our lives. The media loves war, the government loves war and they really dont care about people, humanity and think talking tough is the american way. Liberty is the American way and when its ACTUALLY threatened I will be the first to pick up my gun and defend it and probably against my own government the way things are going. So while Ron Paul stands on stage and says its time to come home and you call him a ISOLATIONIST because we need to rethink our foreign policy please wkae up. This Government is just plain stupid, the war has no victory and it never ends. We are broke our domestic and foreign adventures are unsustainable and bombing nations, giving them foreign aid and giving money to dictators will not bring an end to this war only expand it and destory our nation in the process. The goal of the idiots in washington the special interest has always been to expand it, and the corporations, the banks and the government find new ways to make you pay for it. The powers that be decided a long time ago they can control you, your media, shape you and educate you with the corruption of government. Governemnt creates the laws, breaks its own laws, and uses force to get what it wants while you vote for the same 2 parties who give you the same results.

Is it isolationist not to have troops in 140 countries? Germany doesnt have troops all around the world, Russia never had troops in 140 countries, China the second biggest military spending next to us and spends 300% less is not in every country getting involved in nation building. To continue trade and communications is not ISOLATIONISM and those who think so need again to THINK and read something other then what a 10 sec media clip told you RON PAUL IS!!! Every other country does not have troops all over the world and they are not nation building only the stupid washington DC thinkers, globalist and UN types like to use our money to play god, and think the world is a playground of social mischeif.

Unfortunately, it was after WWII that we discovered the desire to establish and feed the military industrial complex, and started poking our nose into other countries rather deliberately (see Iran Coup, 1953), establishment of Israeli state (and unconditional support, since). We can trace our present day problems in the Middle East to these events.

Well that is my point and this mostly has continued for most of the wars we get ourselves involved in. Like Lybia and who knows what will happen with IRAN. Just listen to Newt talk about CIA covert ops to make regime change. Does he think 100% of the people in IRAN want that and they suddenly they wont elect or turn to even extreme view points. After killing mothers, sons and fathers I'm sure they will just all love democracy. These people are scary and have no idea what they are talking about and the America people EAT IT UP and just love it. But that doesnt surprise me coming from the globalist newt, mr carbon tax, hillary care, open borders supporter Americans are always easy to control.

People need to open their minds on Paul. He isn't isolationist, I mean how can you be if you support true capitalism and free trade?

Pulling ALL troops to back within the US borders IS stupid, thankfully he will NEVER get the chance to test his ideas.

Yes you're right, clearly having troops in 100+ countries is a much superior idea. Those troops in Germany are necessary.

I did not say some cannot be withdrawn, it is all or nothing with some of you. Paul wants to pull them all back and THAT IS STUPID.

When the total national debt is nearly $15T, spending money on anything that is not an absolute necessity to keep us safe at home is a stupid idea.

One is NOT safer with all the troops brought home and of-course many would then be let go because after all we don't need them. The country does not need a fool like Paul running anything, and he won't be

I don't think he is an isolationist, but that he is an idealist.
