splitting hairs, the system does not serve its function and won't be around much longer; its flawed.

I don't think we should stand for having only TWO candidates for over 300 million people.

I wonder if the U.S. will split into different countries some time...

Without a two party system we would be screwed. We would be like Italy and have more leaders then years of modern history. As it is now party leaders in the house can barely (or in the case of Boehner cannot) keep their own parties in order. Imagine if the House had 20-30 parties constantly trying to form coalitions, jockey for power with the no-confidence vote sword of Damocles hanging over every government that considers debating any major piece of legislation, knowing could bring down their government and force a call for new elections.

Alright, that would suck, and be weird. But I really don't think the Republican party is gonna be around much longer. They really don't have a shred of youth in their fibers, what's that gonna mean in 10, 20 years?

I seriously doubt it. They will farther to the right. The Hannity's Limbaugh's, and Palin's of the GOP hold considerable sway with the base. Why? They speak to and feed on the core beliefs of the Republican base. If they lose the 2012 election they will blame Romney as not being conservative enough to capture the enthusiasm of the base.

They're not in any real danger at the presidential level for at least another 10 years, and even then they're still going to remain strong enough regionally and in state politics for several decades. Remember, this is a position they held for most of the 20th century yet nobody ever thought they or the two party system was in real danger.

Then again other than a handful of social issues there isn't really any ideological difference between the two parties, just a matter of degree.

Crazy Train?

Has Ozzie joined the GOP circus! Say it ain't so....!!!

Seriously, great conjecture. If Romney (the sensible, moderate guy) loses, it will be Bachmann-Tea Party overdrive!

How about recruiting the Motor City Madman!

I'd love to see Cat Scratch Fever as the GOP anthem for 2016.

The inherent danger in hyping an Obama re-election up as the final battle of armageddon for conservatism and white America is the inevitable disappointment that follows if the predictions don't come true. It's the Millerites all over again.

You could be right.
I live in a solid-red conservative Idaho, where several of the county Repub Central Committees have been taken over by the far right- my county is one of them- and they are getting some strong push back from moderates who are running in opposition of their chosen candidates.

There is a lot of talk here about how the party has gone too far. A bunch of senior legislators, mostly moderates, resigned or decided not to run again after the end of this year's session, so the fight will be on in the primaries. There are lots of open seats in both houses.

But that's here only. I have no idea how it is in other states.

Unfortuantely a bridge to nowhere, no hope, no good change, no nothing.
Pretty much the same of what we have had in our past. No different, no difference, they still bully, and lie, what else is new.
The only thing they are good at is pointing fingers.
And a farce of lies of Hope n' Change which was nothing but garbage.
