Newt is fishing for a Palin endorsement. A Palin endorsement will bring over a lot of neo-con/tea-party votes and might actually help him become the nominee. In a general election though, a Gingrich/Palin ticket would be an absolute disaster and yes, Obama might actually win all 50 states.
And there I thought Newt was smarter than that .......

Just what I was thinking- Gingrich is name-dropping to pander to her base. I don't think he would ever actually pick her for VP.
