Three main reasons:

1) foreign policy--most R's, whether Tea Party or not, are still of the Reaganite school, Paul decidedly is not.
2) social conservatism--this is less important than the above, but still significant to some.
3)electability. Note that Paul had his two best showings so far in IA and NH, both over 20%. The longer he goes without winning a primary, the more people write him off as not viable. He got 13 in SC, then only 7 in FL.

Please do explain this one, since you say it is "fact".
Where is Ron Pauls "genius" showing in any debate?

Offense or defense?

They are two very different things.

Yes, we all know that almost everyone uses a teleprompter. But only Obama seems to utterly depend on it. Without it, he is a gonner. Totally blunders. He can't think on his feet.

Sarah Palin lost the teleprompter in one speech. She continued, without difficulty. This is because she knew what she was going to say, and can articulate her views effectively.

What "stupidity" do we "cling" to? Enlighten us.

I'll agree with you on that last debate. But Newt's performances in GA were brilliant. He should have stuck with the winning formula, because he was saying what we conservatives have been thinking and wanting a candidate to say.

We are fed up to the gills with liberals, and liberalism!

Have you been listening to Newt? I don't think so. You have no clue who he is.

Go back and check his record from the Reagan years. Ever hear of the "Contract With America"?

Most of what you are reading today that is printed about Newt is a lie from his political enemies. Much of it has been totally taken out of context (an altered YouTube video), and bits and pieces of other things twisted to suit his detracters purposes.

Geeze, even Anne Coulter, once a supporter of Newt, has now turned against him and she supports Romney!! I'm losing my respect for her.

I'm surprised it took six pages to get tho this. There may have once been a very small group of Ron Paulits who called themselves the Tea Party, but that name was co-opted by Army and other Republican operatives immediately after Obama's elections. It is an artificial movement meant to organize the worst elements of Republican base who was just pissed-off that the Kenyan, socialist, usurper was occupying the White House.

The rallies in 2009 were pushed on Fox News and hosted by their talent. People were protesting taxes at a time when taxes have never been lower, and carrying signs saying "Keep government out of Medicare." Seriously, wrap your head around that.

It was a manufactured movement to get Republicans out at the 2010 mid-terms. There are a few true-believers out there still calling themselves Tea Party members, but they've temporarily outlived their usefulness. Look for a resurgence if Democrats make gains in November.

2. They are social conservatives. Ron Paul hardly talks about social conservative issues, and if he do he is against them. Also, many of them dislike his foreign policy. Some of them are in favour of less military, but not dismantle the military.

3. Ron Paul lacks the speeching skills that for instance Cain had. He needs to speak in a way that inspires people

4. Ron Paul has created many enemies. What did Gingrich do when Cain was on the top. He greeted him as a friend. Ron Paul however attacked him heavily, but he never attacked Romney. Ron Paul has attacked all Tea Party favorites, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Newt Gingrich. Ron Paul has still not attacked Romney. Romney is not a popular guy among the Tea Party and he lost credibility due to that.

5. Stupidity. Tea Party folks may be against the media, but they are still affected by them. Evidence can be seen from the Santorum surge in Iowa. Just because the media told them that he was a good candidate, then they voted for him.
I agree with #5. It is stupidity, and hypocrisy. They are not interested in small government, they are only interested in promoting a candidate they are told to promote. That much is obvious by now. They have become the useful idiots for the mainstream candidates.

If they are for small government as they claim, then why are they backing candidates who are guaranteed to deliver big government?

Gingrich may have shaken Cain's hand, but he is obviously not treating Romney as a friend, but as an loathsome enemy. He's got some anger issues, and if he sticks around, you will see him erupt before he goes out.

As for speaking skills, Ron Paul inspires people by his message, not by smiles and hair grease like Romney.
