I watched Mr. Santorum for the first time about a week ago and I liked what I heard. Then I listened to his speeches on social policy. It was almost as if I was watching a car fall off a mountain cliff. This guy is damaged. I don't know how or why but I thought I would post. My gosh, his views on gays, religion, home and hearth are archaic if not worse. What happened to the nice shiny car I saw on the mountain road?...

What happened to this guy?

Santorum tries to present that squeaky clean, Mr. bible, "family values" good and wholesome image, but with even the smallest closer look you can see it's all an act. He's a hard right, minority and gay hating, closet dictator that probably has a large collection of white robes and burned a few crosses in his day.

He seems to always give a reason for doing what he should not have done such as endorsing A. Spector. That was enough for me to look in another direction. But "white robes and burned a few crosses in his day?" That's really a stretch. His father was an immigrant.

Christians do not hate gays any more than they hate liars and everything else on the list of those that will not go to heaven. Hate the sin and love the sinner. I don't expect anyone who is not a Christian to understand this because your eyes have been blinded. One would get the feeling that you hate anything that is moral and good.

Nothing "happened" to him. He's been talking like that for many years now. His view of our nation, the lives we lead and in what direction we shoiuld be traveling ought to be troubling to everyone in the nation. What contributes to the dangers he presents is that he seems so likeable and many people are distracted by that.

Agreed.

It's not as if his theocratic tendencies are new. This is a man who's pretty much known solely for his rabid anti-gay rantings on the floor of the Senate.

The man is a bigot and a war monger who thinks he should get to force his personal views on minorities, women, religion in government, etc on the entire country. He's kind of like an authentic version of George Bush circa 2004. While Bush pandered to the bigot, theocratic crowd, he didn't really follow through with anything of substance. Santorum, on the other hand, is a true believer.

It's very bad for the GOP. While much of their base will vote for a hard right authoritarian bigot, the country as a whole will not.

God help you come out of the darkness.

Can you please publish a list of all things which will cause a person to not go to heaven, so that everyone on this board can diligently avoid doing them? I was just about to go put on some porno, smoke a cigarette, drink beer and violently masturbate. What are my chances now? Can I like make up for it later somehow by continuously praying or something like that? You will still love me though, right? Thanks in advance for the Bible class.

No, no, I do understand that point.

What I don't understand is having that affect how you treat citizens, in such a way you deny them things such as marriage privileges.

I don't have a problem with Christians. I have a problem with extreme idiots like Santorum.

Santorum has a deep streak of anger in him all the time. It pops out when he's challenged or questioned hard about his anti-gay stuff.

What we have in the Republican field is essentially two guys with short tempers and unpredictable natures- Santorum and Gingrich. Both want to to vindicate themselves for being losers back when they actually got elected and blew it.

And two guys with placid natures and big ambitions to be the most powerful individual on earth- Romney and Paul. One wants it because he already has everything else, and the other wants it because he is full of utopian visions.
