Mitt Romney wins the U.S Virgin Islands? Really... this is almost comical. Ron Paul wins the popular vote... but is not called the winner because FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIS ENTIRE PRIMARY SEASON THE MEDIA COUNTS DELEGATES INSTEAD OF POPULAR VOTE. They are RIGHT to count delegates but WRONG to count them selectively... or, as I have been telling you, they would be reporting a VERY DIFFERENT STORY.
In U.S. Virgin Islands Romney received 7 delegates, to Ron Paul's 1. However, Paul received 112 votes, to Romney's 101.
If they want to report real delegate numbers... here's a head start
Same feelings here. Till now, whenever Paul lost the "popular" vote, but won the delegates, everyone was like "What a loser, he never wins". But now that he actually won Virgin Islands, there is nary a sound about the straw poll win.

Can anyone say "DOUBLE STANDARD"? The Paul-haters on this forum are no better.

Did Ron Paul really get his first popular vote win?

You weren't voting for "Ron Paul" or "Mitt Romney".....in a small republican community, you were voting for people you know to be delegates. You were voting for "your brother in law" or "your neighbor" or "your business associate."

It wasn't a true popular vote as it is inherently skewed with things like....."I can't vote against my brother going to Tampa."

There were 384 people in a room voting for individuals they knew to go to Tampa. If we must measure it as popular vote for candidates based on who the delegates would support did "Uncommitted actually win" or was it "Mitt Romney" after the uncommitted committed?

Well I have to give Paul credit where credit is due. I honestly surprised he manged to win a popular vote anywhere. He's polling the single digits for crying out load.

Isn't there still one uncommitted delegate that could switch to Ron Paul?

Right now Ron Paul has 1 delegate with 112 votes to send him to Tampa. That delegate must have been the most popular guy in the room. Mitt Romney's 7 delegates only had a combined 132 votes.

Few things.

First off getting the most delegates to the county and state conventions does not mean you will get most of the delegates from that state to the Convention This is especially true considering what the state delegates in these caucus states typically do is vote on how to allocate the delegates based off the Caucus vote, not simply vote how they want.

Not to mention Paul didn't actually win the vote in the Virgin Islands, nobody did, uncommitted actually won.

The Virgin Islands had nine delegates, six from the Caucus, and three RNC delegates. Paul had a full slate of six delegates on the ballot, Romney had four. The delegates who finish in the top six in the vote totals go to the Convention. More people voted for delegates supporting Paul (112) than delegates supporting Romney (101). The delegates who stated they were uncommitted actually got the most votes (130).

However, due to the fact Paul had more delegates supporting him than Romney, his votes tended to be spread over six delegates, Romney's were spread over four.

The end result was the top six slots contained 1 Paul delegate, 3 Romney delegates and 2 uncommitted delegates. One of the uncommitted delegates said he was in favor of Romney after the vote, so it became 4 for Romney, 1 for Paul and one uncommitted. All three of the RNC delegates supported Romney so he got 7 of the 9

So the Virgin Islands are a state now? Oh, wait, no they're not. The media doesn't care about the results there on either side of the equation.

The only double standard here is that you're complaining about a territory and nobody cares about it. You should be more worried about how Ron Paul is a huge loser across the country than what he's doing in one of the territories.

Not sure what you meant. We have a giant media conglomerate. They very much care about where their paychecks come from.
