I mean seriously, who are they going to vote for, Obama?

Even if the turn out is low in the southern states, they'll still be red on the map this year.

Santorum is going to lose votes in the North East, Ohio, Michigan, etc. Gingrich isn't going to be the nominee, the party leaders will never allow it.

All this talk about "Can Romney excite the base". The base is excited, and the south will still be Republican this fall.

the only state that matters is Florida and Romney won it. The rest of the South will be red except perhaps North Carolina.

It doesn't matter to me because I won't vote for him.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could be on the republican ticket and the south would still go red.

Not necessarily, remember the south turned Democrat because of Lincoln, then turned Republican after the civil rights act

They won't enthusiastically come out for him in the general election, but they will come out. The south will be redder than ever.

The turnout will be low, but it would have been lower if the GOP nominated Herman Cain

Call me crazy, but I think Cain would have done better in the south than Romney.

To me, every politician is the same. They're out for themselves.

I disagree. I think those southerners like Cain more than they like Romney by a long shot. But they hate Obama more than they like either Republican so it really doesn't matter.

The south is weird like that...those Republicans have little use for black folks, but they can tolerate one that thinks like they do over a Mormon. Religion trumps race in a sense in Cain's case. Plus Cain is one of them on top of it (meaning a fellow Southerner).
