African-American Vote in GOP Race Falls Below Measurable Levels | The Nation
Blacks have made it known they prefer govt handouts and special favors because many simply do not have the skills to compete in a 21st century economy. The few Blacks with these skills still vote Dem out of racial solidarity.

Frankly the unwillingness of Blacks to consider another political option is more of an indictment on us than anything.

Exactly. Blacks have made thselves virtually irrelevant in the political sphere because of their automatic support for the Dems.
Even the Dems dont bother with them except for turnout purposes.

I think African American voters will soon be followed by Hispanic and women voters. The GOP is basically the country club party or the religious cult party -- not sure which yet. Maybe a bad combination of both.

Agreed -- the problem isn't with black voters, it's with the GOP. It's a miniority party that appeals to a very narrow niche audience.

I simply cannot imagine why they'd be unwilling to consider another (read: Republican) political option.

I guess when the mind screwing that the Democratic Party has done on black people results in group-think to such a degree that a lot of black people are snowed by the left, you can just write off black people who vote democrat because they think republicans are racist and they have been brainwashed by the democratic party. Will those be the same black people who voted for Obama because "he's black"? Those must be the same black people who are entirely ignorant of their chosen party's racist history. They must really love living off the plantation of the democratic party.

There are blacks who vote democrat for the only reason that they believe that republicans are racist.

Nevermind there's the Libertarian party, the Independent party, the Green party, etc.

I wish black people would read about other party options instead of ingesting the same garbage year after year that the democrats feed them.

They're only showing how ignorant they are.

So how are they irrelevant if their turnout is needed? Blacks don't vote = Democrats might not win. Therefore they are relevant to politics, and Democrats cannot just get black voters to turnout to the polls without doing things beforehand to warrant them turning out. That's called impact, that's called relevancy.

I disagree with the OP's premise, and many other responders who are NOT repubs but, think they know how others think

I attended a local repub party meeting and it was asked why they didn't go after the black vote more?

The answer was, we are an open party. We are open to every one. If someone believes in the repub principles they are welcome.

It is that simple.

About 10% of the attendees were black.

To say they don't want blacks is not only wrong but, very insulting.
Many blacks choose to be repubs? Alan Keyes, J.C Wats, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, herman Cain etc. I could go on but, you get the point.

The black vote will be depressed for Obama as well. Most blacks, like most whites, pay little attention issues or current events. They think that if they have a black in office then he's looking after their interests. Still, a small percentage of them know how terrible Obama has been for programs that benefit blacks. They won't vote GOP, but they will not come out in the numbers they did in 2008.

Obama will collude with the GOP to cut social security benefits, not raise taxes on the wealthy, cut educational loans, and cut benefits to the poor.

About the only thing he's done for blacks is stepped up enforcement the Voting Rights Act and moderately stepped up enforcement of discrimination laws.

You couldn't go much further. After throwing in Condi and Powell, you would have pretty much listed every single black Republican since 1965 or so.
