It's Working in Walker's Wisconsin by Christian Schneider, City Journal Winter 2012

"The Wauwatosa School District, which faced a $6.5 million shortfall, anticipated slashing 100 jobs—yet the new pension and health contributions saved them all."

Walker's reforms saved 100 jobs in 1 school district alone.

"The institute calculates that these steps will save the districts $211.45 per student. If the state’s other 250 districts currently served by WEA Trust follow suit, the savings statewide could reach hundreds of millions of dollars."

More money for the school districts?!?! Won't anyone think of the poor unions?!?!

Kaukauna school district turns a $400,000 deficit into a $1,500,000 surplus due to Walker's policies.

"In the past, Kaukauna's agreement with the teachers union required the school district to purchase health insurance coverage from something called WEA Trust -- a company created by the Wisconsin teachers union. "It was in the collective bargaining agreement that we could only negotiate with them," says Arnoldussen. "Well, you know what happens when you can only negotiate with one vendor." This year, WEA Trust told Kaukauna that it would face a significant increase in premiums.

Now, the collective bargaining agreement is gone, and the school district is free to shop around for coverage. And all of a sudden, WEA Trust has changed its position. "With these changes, the schools could go out for bids, and lo and behold, WEA Trust said, 'We can match the lowest bid,'" says Republican state Rep. Jim Steineke, who represents the area and supports the Walker changes. At least for the moment, Kaukauna is staying with WEA Trust, but saving substantial amounts of money."

The WEA Trust Kept the coverage the same, but dropped the cost more than $300,000 per year. Much of that $300,000 from the tax payers would have went to Union Bosses and Democratic Donations.

This school district is increasing the teacher staff, making smaller class sizes and introducing merit pay.

Whoops

"MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin has the dubious distinction of being the only state that's lost private-sector jobs for six straight months."

"Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who's expected to face a recall election this summer, campaigned on a promise to add 250,000 new private-sector jobs.
But Wisconsin has lost more private-sector jobs — an estimated 27,700 — than any state in the country from July through December, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics."

"Wisconsin also posted the biggest six-month decline in manufacturing jobs in the nation after California, despite an uptick in December. The newspaper said that's significant because Wisconsin depends more on manufacturing for jobs than any state but Indiana, and it comes at a time when a manufacturing resurgence is helping drive the national recovery.
"

What a great job ol' Scotty is doing

Wisconsin is only state to lose private-sector jobs for 6 straight months; report due Thursday | StarTribune.com (http://www.startribune.com/local/141361923.html - broken link)

The public unions must exist because there's a market for what they offer. Let the market decide rather than having an oppressive state government try to legislate them out of existence.

When is progressive - as in financial reform - oppressive? Why, in the mind of a progressive. Which in reality is actually regressive.

Toot sweet!

And that adds to the pile of evidence showing that republitard theories of economics are just plain nonsense. You cannot cut your way to prosperity -- doesn't work. You can only grow an economy by adding jobs. That doesn't mean that it's okay to go hog wild with reckless spending, and I would also acknowledge that state governments sometimes have no choice but to make selected cuts. But generally speaking, it's spending that drives economic growth. Responsible spending, but spending nonetheless.

I didn't know that Kaukauna fired all their teachers. One way to do it, I suppose.

The same hard right, middle class attacking legislation gained Ohio's new tea party governor one of the lowest approval ratings in the nation, not to mention was repealed by the people of Ohio by strong double digit numbers.
In that case, the Koch brothers are some of my favorites.
