Is this surprising? I am not very familiar with the Wisconsin leanings. I am a bit surprise that 41% are conservative and that Santorum seemed to get a larger share of the vote than Romney in a match up with Obama.

Wisc is a left leaning swing state. Seems like all the swing states are moving left this year. RealClear has Obama within 53 votes from reelection with most of the swing state leaning toward him.

Gurbie, these polls of Obama vs one republican or another are meaningless until a nominee is selected. Santorum supporters may say they will vote for Obama over Romney now but in Nov they NEVER would.

I wouldn't call these polls "meaningless". I'm pretty sure all but the most delusional KNOW the GOP is stuck with Romney this election. Not too early for head-to-head polling to give a snapshot of the race to come.

Collaborates Rasmussen's WI poll, where Obama is leading Flip-Flop Romney by double-digits as well. Not surprising, since Wisconsin is a fairly prosperous, educated, and well-off state, therefore it will stay blue.
Once again, we will see the all too familiar pattern in November where the GOP only appeals to people in deep southern states and loony religious nutjob states like Utah.

I don't suppose that it has occurred to any of you that in this election, Obama and Romney are not running against each other, has it? There is a lot to still be said and done, mistakes and triumphs possible on either side, before it is time to vote for real.
BTW, why do so many put their trust in polls? These things seem to vchange by the hour and are, to me, worthless.

Aside from the big number is the story behind the numbers. Obama is beating him in every category, but with women, Romney is getting trounced. Women and latinos are going to be the story of 12. Repubs have dug a very deep hole with those groups.

The vote is going to be close, but if Obama and the Dems win, women will have provided the margin of victory. Unless ALEC comes up with a plan to suppress THEIR votes before Nov, the GOP's in trouble.
My hope is that another loss will finally cause some backlash within the GOP against their Far Right. We can't have a healthy democracy when one of two major parties is dominated by people who believe the universe is 6000 years old.

Yes and no. Wisconsin has gone blue in recent presidential elections but elected a Republican governor in 2010 by a decent margin, which should of been a good sign for Republicans. But then that governor managed to **** off so many people that he's currently facing a recall election. I doubt too many Republicans think Wisconsin is actually in play given how enraged Democrats and moderates in the state are.
