Conservatives Meet Santorum to Pressure Gingrich to Exit - NYTimes.com

They want Newt to drop out, apparently thinking that his voters will go to Santorum and they will be able to stop Romney from getting the nomination.

Conservatives should sit this one out and stay away from the polls. Then, they will be able to trumpet that had a more conservative candidate been nominated they would have won. Both Santorum and Gingrich are already saying that, but given that Romney has not lost yet, it doesn't seem as credible.

Sound like wishful thinking to me.

Donald Rumsfeld had a good term for this: 'dead enders.'

Yes, Santorum is not dropping out. These 'conservative leaders' which is code for bigots are going to finance him all the way trying to stop Romney. What idiots. They are going to end up helping put Obama right back in there.

I hate to break it to little Ricky, but Newt's votes are not going to him.

Nope, I really don't think so either.

Dont worry folks, if you want to stop Romney, the man at the Helm will do that for you. Obama is way ahead in the polls...and they always predict the winner when its this close. Possible that you may have a better chance in 2016. The only chance in hell you have is the senate. A REAL good chance of taking it. This will be four years of nothing getting done.

Considering his polling numbers I don't think there's any Newt voters left outside his immediate family, and even they probably have second thoughts.
