Mitt Romney, who the media has been telling us has the nomination all but wrapped up, turns out to have a tiny problem. He's WAY short on delegates and there is just about no way he can catch up to get the minimum he needs.

Why don't you take your own advice and read the article you posted, they are not saying he can't get to the minimum for the convention. They are talking about needing 80% to 90% to clinch by May 29thin Texas. After Texas comes seven more states including California with 172 on the line. Here you go:
"There are five contests on April 24th with 219 delegates at stake; but even if Romney won every single delegate that day he would be far short of 1,144. Wyoming and Missouri are holding conventions before April 24th where Romney may pick up some delegates but even winning all of them wouldn't bring him much closer to the magic number.
Looking ahead, Romney would need to win about 80 percent of the delegates available in the April and May events to possibly clinch on May 29th when Texas holds its primary with 152 delegates at stake. If Romney won 90 percent of the delegates in April and through May 22nd he may still come up short of the 1,144 and need delegates from Texas' primary on May 29th."
Lol, re read your link. The peice picked the date of May 29th, before the Texas primary, and with more yet to go. Keep dreaming, the nomination is Mitt's. Practice saying President Romney.

Exactly. It is fairly comical situation if you think about it... someone who constantly says the mainstream media shouldn't be trusted and doesn't understand how to count delegates is telling others to look at this mainstream media article about delegate counts as proof of something, but it doesn't even say what she thinks it does. Her typing "yay" is icing on the cake.
How often do you need the math spelled out for you? Actually your post argues against a brokered convention. This guy is saying a brokered convention is unlikely because the next highest delegate total is Ron Paul. In any event Romney will all but sweep the remaining states. Paul is his only opponent now. The lefty loons really need to practice. Repeat after me President Romney.
Wow! I must hand it to Paul supporters! You guys are in it to the very end! Romney will get the nomination. We're only halfway through the primary and there's still California, Texas and New York... Romney is essentially the last man standing and will ultimately sweep every primary from now until the convention.
If he doesnt become the Republican nominee, I will personally buy everyone on this thread a new car...

How is Romney going to pull this off if he consistently struggles to get his poll numbers above 44%?
You honestly think that Romney can't get 60% of the delegates left?
Tune in on April 24th and watch Romney most likely sweep Connecticut (28), Rhode Island (19), and Delaware (17). Then watch him get the solid majority of New York (95) and win Pennsylvania (72).
This then gives Romney more momentum and he starts piling up bigger and bigger wins - especially in June.
I realize that this is your first presidential election that you have followed, but it is common sense that when the biggest challenger throws in the towel it helps the guy on top.
Romney won't make it to 1144 delegates. He will lose to Ron Paul on the second ballot.
