Warren’s claim, which surfaced yesterday after a Herald inquiry, put the candidate in an awkward position as campaign aides last night scrambled but failed to produce documents proving her family lineage. She was never actually nominated because Obama knew she was too controversial.
Obama nominated Richard Cordray, who most Republicans admitted had the qualifications for the job, and then put him in via recess appointment while the Republicans were holding "pro forma" sessions.
Warren actually has a very good chance of winning that seat, especially in a presidential election year when turnout is higher.
