We have no money in this country, debt is unsustainable and the economy is not getting better while most peoples wages are stagnant.... where is the money going to come from?
I would agree that some places need to be cut more than others like welfare to corporations and to the military, but there has to be a little give on the other things in this country
What do you think about raising the age to 70 for Social security and Medicare for instance?
Seriously, i'm a democrat but I feel like sometimes I have to defend the republicans. Will you get over it. I never understand why people get mad with each other with political parties. Each side has an agenda that has been established for the last 40 years. Republicans lookout for rich white people, corporations, and whomever else has money, democrats lookout for the disabled, poor, minorities, women. Their agenda will be the same in 2016, just like our agenda will be the same. This is the game we play, one side is going to win the election and the other side will have to figure out a way to shut down any policies that the winning team tries to enact.
So basically the OP is pissed because he/she wants lots and lots of handouts to everyone, be they individuals, special interest groups, or corporations.
Clue: get off the teat, the next two generations have already been indentured into servitude by our federal government's spending.
Medicaid should be a grant to the states. The Governors of the individual states have a better handle on how that money needs to be distrubuted than does the federal government.
Food stamps/school lunches at the level of federal payment are double payments for those households already receiving federal assistance.
Actual defense spending probably does need increased. This could be done by decreasing military spending/nation building/overseas pre-emptive wars, and providing military presence and bases for Western Europe and what, more than 90 nations in total?
Obama already pretty well axed NASA. I guess all that is left is for the next POTUS to end NASA's Muslim Outreach program.
Amtrak needs to sink or swim on its own. It cannot even make it on federal funding. Riders need to make it work and be willing to pay higher fees rather than having their transportation subsidized by the taxpayers.

I think the original poster might be less harsh if he had a better understanding of what the actual plans were. For instance, ending the Department of Education is just at the national level. This would actually cut out a bureaucracy that would give states more control and potentially more federal money to states after the savings from the cutting of the bureaucracy. Romney feels it is redundant and inefficient to have education controlled at 2 levels. As a teacher, I kind of agree.
Did I miss the memo where states have this impeccable track record. Don't get me wrong, i don't think the federal government is great either, but where do people get this idea that just turning everything over to the state would make things better?
