A lot of this may have been necessary but to claim it didn't happen and not know it did happen is silly...google is your friend.
Nice summary, Bobbb, bbbut you forgot about the little old widows and the pension funds who held GM bonds. In a move that had even Obama's buddy Warren Buffett frowning, the government savaged those bondholders to sweeten the pot for the UAW.

I don't think too many Michigan citizens who owned GM stock or bonds are real happy with the way the UAW bailout went down.

People in Michigan are not as dumb as the left seem to think they are and they can look around and see the devastation they are living through. Those propoganda tv spots didn't help too much in the MI primary, even with the democrats voting for Santorum....Mitt Romney still won. Ask those in MI where a lot of the auto industry has moved to and why?

I think the polls showed that Bob Dole led Bill Clinton in June of 1996.

That is actually a fair point. Unions here often resort to dirty tactics quick. My brother was physically refrained from taking pictures of McCain during the election from Union members who admitted they were "under orders" to do so. He works for a local paper and was there to get the pictures for his livelihood.

Union thug tactics will lead to more Wisconsins.

You do realize that Obama took GM and Chrysler through bankruptcy after skirting the law and giving the union sweetheart deals, ripping off the bond holders, and throwing a mountain of cash at them that will apparently never get paid back.

Romney wanted to do the same thing - managed bankruptcy, but follow the current laws and not pick winners (unions) over losers bondholders (people with pensions and 401Ks).

The auto worker in Detroit wasn't likely to vote for Romney anyway. Not much lost there, IMHO.

Oblama is in for a Carteresque asz-whipping, and it's just five short months away.
Please, Obama is going to take Michigan and most of the Midwest, aside from Indiana, no matter what a single poll result says. It's delusional to believe otherwise.

Just like those who believe Romney is going to "surge" in states like Michigan were never going to vote for Obama. Michigan is not a swing state, it's going to stay blue. The GOP should focus on real swing states instead of acting like Romney is such a fantastic candidate that he's going to sweep Obama in a Reagan-style landslide. Not going to happen, even if the economy continues to falter, the race will likely still end up being close. If Obama is mediocre, Romney is moreso for being incapable of really taking advantage.

Your entire post starts with a falsehood. Since when is Michigan "deep blue"? It elects GOP corporatists and shuns blue-collar candidates for governor.
Is it from your perspective on the Fox right (which considers Bill Clinton a member of the "far left")? Laughable...
