Romney suporters are basically voting against Obama, and Obama supporters are voting against Romney. Another reason to vote third party

No, sorry, that's not the case. The messages are this...

Obama - We've done the best we can with the mess we were handed. Things aren't great, but they're better than they were and there's not much more a President can do

Romney - Obama is to blame for the recession and the out of control spending is his fault and not that of programs that were already in place

A third party would be nice, but thank the religious right and big corporate interests for making that impossible.

Under our Constitution's system of elections, 3rd parties are hopeless cause.

The only thing you can do is identify the party most aligned with your views, and work to improve it.

yes and no: Republicans are voting, many of them against Obama, a lot of Democrats seem to be thinking the same way. As the days go bye it looks more and more like Romney is coming up with some solutions or ideas anyway, this is better than the Obama camp right now.

As for a third party, it may come to be, but not for many years...

He may be coming up with ideas, but they are the same as the ones as bush.

GOP had their time 2000-2008, which is the worst time in 30 years if not in all modern years.

Dunno the message is "we're not as bad", as it is about "demonizing" the other guy. Partly because the fact of the matter is that "negativity" works!

And you can call it a "partisan" observation if you wish, but at least one side of the fence obviously gets a lot of mileage out of specifically peddling all that 'ol "negativity" and "fear".... of "illegals", "gays", "socialists", "atheists", "educated elites", "feminazis", "uppity muslim kenyans", etc.! So sure, we could seek a "third" alternative... but then again, a lot of us could also just quit "buying" the same old negative crap that "feeds" nothing but our prejudices!

Surveys I have seen show Republicans are voting against Obama, but Dems are voting for him - not against Romney. I think the "real" Romney is OK. I am voting for Obama because I do not want the Republican party with its present philosophy and right wing influences to have its way for the next four years. I believe they would be bad for America. I feel "safer" with Obama, but am not enthusiastic about him.

Just curious if you are voting for Obama, because like you, he is "frugal" with the national budget?

Actually, the President can't be that frugal or un-frugal as he can't act unilaterally on most spending. To boot, things like spending have a lot do to with the economy overall. The 'growth' in spending that we're seeing right now is just more people using existing programs.
