Forgetting about his policies, just personal and private stuff. Would Democrats be going after his past drug use? The gay rumors? Links to terrorists and radical muslims like Rashid Khalidi? His wife's no show $300,000 a year job at a Chicago hospital? The ties to mobster Tony Reszko?

Of course they would. The same way they pulled out all the stops to get Herman Cain out of the election. He's the liberal/socialist messiah and the MSM will promote him any way they can.

Because Republicans haven't gone after him on those things? What are you trying to say here?

Also, based purely on his policies, 30 years ago he likely would have been a Republican.

Republicans have gone after him on those issues, but the MSM has not pursued any of those leads. The MSM also characterizes anyone who does bash or question the president's credentials to be racist.

Obama's not a Republican?

Sorry, I get confused. It's so hard to tell the difference between the warmongering tax-and-spend candidates anymore.

I don't understand why the Republicans think attacking Obama for using marijuana is a good idea. A clear majority of people now support legalizing marijuana for both medical and recreational use. Also, I suspect that most voters have smoked some at least once in their lives.

The GOP ends up looking like out of touch old geezers when they bring up marijuana. I don't know anybody under the age of 50 that cares one bit that Obama, Bush or any other politician used to get high when they were young.

It is especially dangerous when the GOP candidate is almost a self caricature of a whitebread Ned Flanders style busybody and goody two shoes.

Also its old news. Everyone knows Obama experimented with it. Clinton did too. Its not a big deal anymore.

Also what about Obama's vote-suppression scheme by which he won his first election? Or 200+ dead Mexicans in the wake of Fast & Furious?

The answer is duh, the media would be going after all this and more with screaming headlines if Obama were an R. Remember what they did to Dan Quayle over the misspelling of a word (even though he was just acting as a cipher for a public school teacher at the time).
