Spot on. Reid just handed Romney a golden opportunity to humiliate him and the Democratic party if Reid is not telling the truth. Does anyone truly believe Romney would simply walk away from such a gift if it could be refuted?

Reid wouldn't have made this assertion if it could be easily proved wrong. Romney, by his continue refusal to release his taxes, has basically conceded that Harry is telling the truth.

Or...there's something even more damning there than not having paid taxes for 10 years...

If Reid was lying, senator McCAin, who has seen Romney's tax returns, would call him out. He hasn't because Reid isn't lying.

I'm sure that if it were true, the IRS would be all over it by now just waiting to get their hands on the extra revenue.

The day you become personally insulted by a political ad, is the day you need to admit you are a partisan hack.

I don't think there is any question that he filed a tax return, and that his deductions were legal, so the IRS would not be involved.

What is in question is what percentage of his income he was able to legally write off, therefore not pay any taxes on. That could be as high as 100% with the loopholes and deductions that are built into the tax laws.

IMO, his tax returns are probably legitimate, but would show that he paid a very small percentages of taxes on his imcome compared to the amount most Americans pay.

Great, so he followed the rules that our government put in place? If he paid no taxes I have a problem with the system, not the guy that legally followed it. Still not voting for Romney, but this is all just ridiculous.

Reid didn't "smear" anybody unless the statements he made are untrue and he knew it.

Romney needs to refute the allegations with facts and make Reid look like a fool.

If he can, which is doubtful.

I don't feel insulted, angry . . .

All Reid is doing is creating a red herring, trying to take the focus off the issues, wh/ is what he has done continually since Obama got in office.

Reid is Reid. He is a political hack. The only emotion I feel in re: to anything he says is sadness that his constituents are represented by someone who spends more time creating fake issues than representing the people who elected him to office. His state has BIG problems . . . he should be concentrating on addressing those needs. That's what he is paid to do.

Jeeze! You would think that Romney would release his tax returns and make fools out of all of them, wouldn't you?

I didn't say I had a problem with him following the law. Just saying that IMO his returns are probably legit, but his percentage of taxes would not register well with many voters...........if that turns out to be the case, the problem IS with the system, and people will vote for whoever they think will maintain or change the system.
