In the "Let No Irony Go Unsmelted" department, we have this fascinating little tidbit from this morning's news:

Quote:
Romney Campaign Requested 'Several' Years of Tax Returns of VP Contenders

CHARLOTTE - Mitt Romney requested "several" years of tax returns from his potential running mates, a senior adviser to the candidate said Saturday, suggesting that those considered for the ticket may have been required to reveal more financial documents that the candidate himself.

In a briefing with reporters in Virginia Saturday, senior adviser Beth Myers, who was charged with headed the vice president selection process, declined to specify exactly how many years of tax returns were required, saying only that "several" were requested.

Several, by definition, implies more than two years.

Romney, who has been under intense pressure to release more of his own tax returns by both Democrats and members of his own party, has so far released his 2010 returns and an estimate for his 2011 returns.

And if they did not want to provide the information they certainly did not have to now did they?

No they made them provide it. They were forced through threats of getting punched in the stomach. Whats your point?

Whether or not they had to provide the information is irrelevant. The hypocrisy of this requirement is pretty obvious.

Very true, but of course if they didn't, they wouldn't be considered for vp now would they?

Romney is a typical right-wing hypocrite.

Actually, Romney has released a PARTIAL tax return for 2010, having conveniently left off forms that detail his foreign investments. And only an estimate for 2011. And that's all "we people" need to know. Would Romney have been satisfied had all contenders for VP done the same? I doubt it.

I think the left is just pissed....that he won't do what the left asks.....

Nothing more nothing less....

So, let me get this straight, Romney HAS released tax returns, not what the left wants, then the Romney campaign asks for the VP to release tax returns....and now the left is pissed?

Well, wonder who started this releasing tax forms?

Actually, Romney is afraid to do the same. Likely it'd destroy him politically and he knows it.

Requested is not the same as forced. I can understand that btw, the "other side" is on Romney's case, can you imagine if the VP also had not procuded tax returns? The dems would be all over the guy/gal, Now they have to find something else to make a federal case out of..
