Todd Akin Defies Mitt Romney and Stays in Missouri Senate Race - ABC News
Video of airplane going zooooooooooooom with banner in link.

Speaking of which, remember when politicians worked and represented their constituents?
Akin doesn't care what they think.

"Let me make it absolutely clear," Akin said on Mike Huckabee's radio show. "We're going to continue with this race for the U.S. Senate." (We? We who? Is that the royal we?) Superpacs have pulled his advertising funding....... Even Rove gave up on him.

Akin wasn't swayed by appeals from Romney and Ryan as well as five current and former Missouri senators.

"Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside," Romney said in a statement. "I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race."

and not a single f*** was given that day, by Akin.

Not mean, but it certainly shows Obama is a hypocrite after lecturing the nation on his "new tone".

The right-wing fundies' war on women is being underwritten by the GOP. Unfortunately, for the GOP, the majority of the U.S. electorate is women. How awkward for them. They're going down in flames. Even "conservative" women are not going to elect the Taliban to run their lives and police their uteruses. How peculiar. The right-wing complains about Democrats' "interference" in their lives: there is no greater interference than what the American Taliban are proposing to do to women.

Sure. This campaign is plenty mean on both sides.
That's the way we all want it, even though we all claim we don't want anything but clean civilized debate.

But we have progressed. There was a time when both parties got as many people as possible boozed up before they went to the polls and fights broke out in the polling stations. And we haven't seen candidates go after each other with pistols, canes, or swords for quite a while now.

It's not mean. It is misleading. Mean is calling Romney a felon and saying that he is tied to a woman's death. Mean is having your VP try to divide the country with racism by saying things like, "dey goin' put y'all back in chains" and saying that Republicans are "squealing like pigs". But, I gues that pesky cruddy record of obama's just won't let him do much else.

Seeing as how Romney disavowed Akin's comments and told him to drop out, it's just another Obama campaign lie.

What else is new?

Trying to tie Romney and Ryan to some knucklehead in MO. who received as much support from democrats as he did from the GOP in his open primary, is not going to fly. And while his theory about raped women is ridiculous, his being pro life is not. The majority of women in this country are more pro-life than pro-abortion. So maybe this distraction is better for the dems than talking about the economy, but it is not great for them.

Akin's (and Ryan's) views are in the republican plank. If Romney truly does not agree with this then let's see him make the Republicans change it. It would reassure a whole lot of voters that Romney has the guts to be more than a rubber stamp for the extreme right wing agenda that so many in his party have. If he can't or won't do this, then associating him with Akin is fully justified.

Oh, please. I thought Republicans were tougher than that.
