Any way you slice it, Romney's still got a pretty uphill battle by comparison (and more ominously, the "math" ain't been improving)...!

Mitt Romney's swing-state ad spend looks like a loser's strategy

The problem with Romney is he is the poster boy for everything that people dislike about the country club republican mentality and lifestyle.

I mean a car elevator? I've never understood why rich people buy things that make them appear to be lazier than the poor people they are always railing about.

Now it's not really surprising that the American people haven't exactly embraced Romney. Romney will still get the die hard Republican base and the rabid anti-Obama folks to vote for him, but it isn't going to be enough. The Romney/Ryan ticket hasn't explained why any moderates or independents should vote for them.
Exactly. Earlier this year, it was literally a new flavor of the month on the RCP polling graph for Republican presidential nominees (you left out Michele Bachmann, who peaked early). One blunder after another by Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich and others, Republicans finally began to coalesce around Romney because it was painfully obvious the others did not stand a chance against Obama. Romney simply became their vehicle to get Obama out of office, even though many in the party had attacked him harshly only a few months earlier for Romneycare and his more moderate record.

The four year focus on kicking Obama out of office will be the GOP's undoing this election year.
