Republicans have promoted a scorched earth policy since Obama took office, leaving behind the charred remains of moderate, commonsensical positions that would be bolstering Romney's support if he didn't have to steer clear of them.

All the slip ups, and miscues, and glimpses of someone who's out of touch socially, financially, domestically, and internationally are the fruition of the GOP's single-minded, anti-Obama rhetoric.

And no, another candidate would not be doing better b/c they'd be constrained by the anti-moderatism that's killing Romney now.

While agree with your premise, the real reason they will lose is because of how they treated minorities and single women. If they would quit with some of their positions, they would be crushing obama, but instead they move even further to the right and its killing them

This is laugable!

What "Romney failure?" Looks to me like the only failure running in this election is Barack Obama, with a domestic policy failure of 23 M (or more) unemployed and an unemployment rate of well over 8% (14% is the real rate), massive debt, and out of control spending, a job killing health care bill that includes the largest tax increas in American History, hitting the middle class hardest, and no relief in sight.

He has practically shut down the coal industry, offshore drilling is still being restricted on a massive scale, and he refuses to build the XL Pipeline.

His lack of a foreign policy has put the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood in control of most of the Middle East, creating a threat to much of the world, let alone Israel, which may have to take action on their own against Iran.

Well, I do think Romney has proven inept on the campaign trail, and he has proven that he cares little for the 47%.

But the biggest reason to not vote GOP is the congress. The GOP has decided to kick America when it is down, hoping to sabotage Obama. They think their job is to act as assassins for the rich, rather than legislators for the country. That is why I hold them in comtempt. Romney really had nothing to do with that.

Let's say I concede all your points... why isn't Romney stomping Obama then?

As bad as you're saying Obama is, people would rather have more of that then Romney and his laughable Republican ideology.

That's exactly right. They're losing among women by almost 20 points and they only get 5% of the black vote. This is largely because of constant attacks on women and womens rights as well as endless appeals to racism which alienate black voters. The GOP can deny the obvious all they want but the racist southern strategy has been their bread and butter for 40 years now and 95% of black people have gotten the message that the GOP hates them.

I agree, republicans have publicly pursued policies aimed at marginalizing some Americans. Perhaps republicans do have good ideas regarding our economy but whatever ideas they put forward, they are ultimately overshadowed by discriminatory and/or backwards social policies.

Had the GOP realized that we are no longer the same nation we were some fifty or sixty years ago, their chances would have been much better.

Like Romney painting the crowd of professionals at the NAACP convention as people looking for more gov't handouts?

Or one-time front-runner Gingrich saying how he'd tell the NAACP to ask for jobs, not food stamps?

Or one-time front-runner Santorum opposing welfare b/c he doesn't want to make Black people's lives easier?

Or continually stepping in between a woman & her doctor by forcing doctor's to perform humiliating, medically unnecessary procedures to shame women?

Or denying women access to a host of wellness programs b/c a fraction of the PP budget goes to providing a legal right?

Or punishing women for wanting them to have sex w/ who she wants by denying her coverage for BC, even though BC is also used as treatment for several medical conditions?

Laugh now, cry in November. In between, keep whistling through the graveyard. Mitt's going to lose. There is blood in the water, but you have chosen to ignore it.
