Why the heck does Romney love to talk about his MA term in these debates, but avoids it like the plague???? (interview, campaign)

When he's out campaigning?
It's just sickening and a classic example of how he's being manipulated by his own GOP. They're telling not to do that since any mention of a New England liberal state like MA, would turn off Joe Hillbilly GOPer in a place like Kentucky?
I'm sure, I'm not the only one who has noticed this. He talks a LOT more about the 2002 Olympics and Bain, than he does about his term as MA governor.
