150,000 people in North Carolina voted early today and the numbers surpassed the first early voting day in 2008. In 2008, 117,000 people in NC voted early. Just as absentee ballots heavily favor republicans, early voting heavily favors democrats so it could be a sign that turn out will matter more than poll numbers. The more days people get to vote before election and the bigger those numbers are, the better for democrats.

That is good news just in the sense that people are being active about their right to vote, I hope that number grows, the more people who vote the better.

I'm pretty sure that this heavy turnout isn't a good sign for Obama. You might think people are excited to usher in four more years of what just happened. But I'm 100% certain most of them aren't.

The emphasis on early voting is completely absurd. The connection to early voting has always been tied to party loyalists, not the enthusiasm of fence-sitters. However, if liberals insist on gauging election turnout based on early voting, then it should be shouted from the mountaintops that Barack Obama has suffered a degradation in voter enthusiasm in ALL of the consitituent groups that make up his base as compared to 2008. Youth enthusiasm is down....black enthusiasm is down.....women's enthusiasm is down....Hispanic enthusiasm is down.....white male enthusiasm is down.

Early voting means nothing when the enthusiasm gap is large. ESPECIALLY since Republicans are more enthused this election than Democrats. That's a FACT.

Win or lose, I am happy people are voting and exercising their right to vote. I say the more people who vote the better.

Actually people were more enthusiastic for Obama four years ago than people today who are enthusiastic for getting rid of Obama. So the higher numbers this time seems to indicate larger democratic turnout. I candidate wins by people being FOR that candidate, not being against the other candidate. Thats why John Kerry lost against George Bush. Democrats didn't care for Kerry but they hated Bush. Now it's the other way around. Anti-Obama votes are not enough to win an election.

How many threads are you going to peddle factually incorrect information? Conservatives and Republicans are more enthusiastic this year than liberals and Democrats. This information is easily obtainable. Look it up.

In 2004 democrats were more enthusiastic than republicans but John Kerry still lost. The democrats had a bad candidate just like the GOP has a bad candidate today.

The heavy favor Dem part is a thing of the past. By all accounts the GOP was well represented in early voting in NC this time around.

Early voting opens in critical North Carolina - CBS News

and we all know election day is when the GOP tidal wave comes a shore.

I think it will be interesting to see when info about the party affiliation of these voters are released.
