I reccommend that he pick Julian Castro.

It is perfect - the socialist president and a running mate with a name that hints about socialism.
I really like Joe Biden, and if he ever ran for president I would certainly vote for him. He says it like it is, and he is often humorous when he does. I love his so-called gaffs as well.

Gaffes and all, I think Biden is the only politician who tells you like it is. You may not like how he words it but he speaks from the heart. I don't think we can say this about any other politician.
And Biden has been like this his whole political life. So why are you feigning outrage about him now. Makes no sense to me.

What a lovely, classy reply. Typical. It's the kind of answer you give when you want to throw a slam, but you have absolutely no way to defend your argument.

So in bizarro nut world, experience doesn't matter when you're second in line for the most powerful position in the world, right?

By the way - Congress is made of both the House and the Senate so technically Joe Biden is also only a Congressman. And isn't it sexist to use the term Congressman? To be politically correct to the lefties you must say "only a member of the House of Representatives" if you are going to use inclusion in that august body as a sleight.
So now I'm being lectured on PC by a BIRTHER? LOL! That's rich...you just made my day.

The House isn't a stepping stone to the presidency, and it never has been. House members are rarely selected as running mates either, because it's a much less prestigious position than Senator or Governor. For example, James Garfield is the only House member elected directly to the presidency, and Gerald Ford was appointed as VP from the House when Agnew resigned because of tax fraud, and became president later after Nixon was impeached. The House is instead a stepping stone to the SENATE. Senators represent an entire state, and they run for six year terms. House members represent a region, and they run for two. House members who are interested in moving up run for the SENATE to put themselves in line for a presidential run. Senators have much deeper and broader experience in governing because the Senate is a smaller body with long standing committees, and Senators aren't constantly worrying about running for reelection--they can more easily become experts in their field. Most candidates who run for president either come from the SENATE, or they're a former GOVERNOR. Romney is a former governor, and Obama is a former US Senator.

I find it useful to actually know a little about history and how government works before I go on a rant.

Excuse me? I am not a birther - in fact I have been among the most vocal voices against the birthers on this forum - essentially saying that they are entirely nuts.

Do you see the words "conservative" and automatically think "birther"? If so - you need to become much better informed and less presumptive.

There are no "stepping stones" to the presidency. Would you please cite the portion of the Constitution where it says that one must have been a U.S. Senator to be eligible for the presidency? Can't find it? Thank you very much.

Since you consider yourself so knowledgeble about history - then I find it odd that you didn't mention the following: 4 of the last six presidents have been state governors before they ran for office (and when Mitt Romney wins it will become 5/7).

Before Barack Obama was elected - do you know who was the last president to have been a U.S. Senator? Richard Nixon - and he was VP in between the Senate and presidency. The last to go directly to the presidency from the Senate was Lyndon B. Johnson.

A change has taken place in what positions act as good preparation for being president. Recently - executive leadership - especially being a governor is valued over legislative experience.

As to your last sentence - knowing that alot of presidents (16 in fact) have been former U.S. Senators does not equate to "knowing how government works". I am quite familiar with the workings of government, thank you very much - and it would appear that you may need to demonstrate your knowledge in light of the fact that you claim extrajudicial qualifications for president beyond what the Constitution actually requires.

Have fun studying.
