Since this is a pathetic attempt to bait & switch, I'll ask again, what have Republicans done to show Black Americans that they are not a party of racists?
Blacks, being the racists they are have a big set of **** to accuse all Republicans of being racists...
Take it however you like, but in the modern era that term has grown to mean any person who is trying to talk themselves out of a tight spot or to avoid being criticized for something they said or did.
However I like? It has nothing to do w/ how I like. It has to do w/ the fact that you can't separate the historical context & connections of that word just b/c you feel like it, then claim that there's nothing racist about it.
How sad is it that you have to look back almost 150 years to find a credible example of Republicans reaching out to Black America.
Wasn't aware that timing diminished the importance of such an historic event. You got your answer, Republicans freed the slaves, is there anything else you'd like to add?
Aside from the fact that Cuomo APOLOGIZED b/c he didn't know that was the history of the word...
Aside from the fact that the others were talking about White people...
You have a point.
So, if a white person talks about shucking and jiving, it's not racist, only if a white person talks about a black man it racist.....pathetic....again, stretching to prove a non-point...
So, if a white person talks about shucking and jiving, it's not racist, only if a white person talks about a black man it racist.....pathetic....again, stretching to prove a non-point...
And, please don't bring that stupid Urban dictionary reference either....
Who said it's only a Black thing? It has a historical context as a negative, racist characterization of Black people. Trying to play this game of semantics is like saying there's nothing wrong w/ "big nose Jew b/c hey... anyone can have a big nose."...
There's a clear, historical context that you're framing your discussion in, even if you didn't mean to. And when that's brought to your attention, the responsible thing to do is apologize for using it in that context.

Explain how it could be seen as racist if you describe a White person as shucking & jiving?
There's a clear, historical caricature of Black people as shucking & jiving. Referencing that today can look like you're making the same caricature that the racists were making back then when you're talking about someone Black. To say there's nothing racist about connecting Black people to shucking & jiving, just shows an ignorance of history.
