Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were part of a small team who were at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. Consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When they heard the shots fired, they radioed to inform their higher-ups to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. An hour later, they called again to headquarters and were again told to "stand down." Woods, Doherty and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the Consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The quick reaction force from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the Consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight. At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Specter gunship

The American special operators, Woods, Doherty and at least two others were part of the Global Response Staff, a CIA element, based at the CIA annex and were protecting CIA operators who were part of a mission to track and repurchase arms in Benghazi that had proliferated in the wake of Muammar Qaddafi's fall. Part of their mission was to find the more than 20,000 missing MANPADS, or shoulder-held missiles capable of bringing down a commercial aircraft.
Even Obama's chief spin doctors at MSNBC are starting to tell the truth about Benghazigate. I wonder if Mathews gets a tingle over that?

We have had over 6000 servicemen killed in Iraq and afghanistan. Why don't we have the same level of scrutiny paid to each one of their deaths? Are their lives worth less?

That's actually a very good question. Why has MSNBC essentially ignored American casualties in Afghanistan since 2009?

The deaths of U.S. military personnel were useful to the media as a means of attacking President Bush and getting Obama elected.
Now that Obama is in the White House, they have no reason to report on military casualties. The left cares about U.S. military casualties only to the extent they can use them as a political weapon.
That's just the same version of the original FOX story, that doesn't name any "sources". Meanwhile the CIA is denying the story so you'll need to do better than that.

Why has the U.S. ignored casualties in the two wars? The only reason that benghazi is getting any attention is because it has been politicized by the right wing. It is shameful. I have been against the wars when Bush was in office and have been against them since Obama has been in office. I would like to see us completley out of the middle east.

Do you know something that we don't know about a horrid failure by Obama in those deaths, too? Did he refuse their protection and try to cover up his handling of the situation? If so, please fill us in.

Bush and Obama are both at fault. They should not have been there in the first place. Had we not been there they likely would have been still alive. I see nothing different out of Romney, if anything, he is even more of a chicken hawk.

BDS is still alive and well with the far left, I see.

There is no evidence at all...nothing that the President himself refused extra security. You are perpetuating an outright lie for political gain. Romney should apologize to the American public for politicizing the deaths of these americans. He has no shame.
As for all of the military deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq. I blame Bush and congress for sending them there to begin with and Obama and congress for keeping them there too long. Had they not been sent there in the first place, most would be alive today.
