Will Republicans accept the result, or will they complain of fraud or unfairness? Would be interesting to see how it would play out in parallel to the results of the 2000 election.

This situation is more and more likely everyday. Should be fun.

If Romeny wins the Electoral College and Obama the popular vote (Much more likely BTW), will you complai of fraud and cry that a baby the way you did in 2000?
The reason it's much more probable that Romney win in the case of 1 candidate winning the popular vote and the other the EC is because Romney will win about 10 more states than Obaba as Bush did in 2000 netting an additional 20 of the Senate allocation of state votes.

I find it more interesting that many, many pundits and others are giving up winning the popular vote. It is very unlikely someone wins the popular but loses the electoral. Yeah,it happened in 2000,but that was by about 500K votes, less than half a %. It is also pretty unlikely that swing states will in the end vote more for Obama than the national average. Dems usually should ahve the edge in the popular vote. After all, most of the biggest states for population,California,New York,Illinois are deep blue. The only large Red state is Texas. most red states are low in population, like Nebraska,Wyoming,West Virginia. So it would be odd and pretty unlikely for a Republican to win the popular vote and lose the electoral.
