I think what's being overlooked in this thread is the fact that if Obama comes across looking extremely presidential after this storm is over, it could help him tremendously.
And..........the opposite could happen also.
If a terror attack didn't stop him from campaigning, neither will a storm.
The storms about to make landfall, the "center" "eye" if you will. No real damage. The news keeps showing the same moron driving through deep water, and the one crane collapse in New York.
No big deal.
Gov. Christie just gave a news conference. Things are pretty bad in parts of NJ. No power in Atlantic City. "No big deal", right.
Elections will proceed as scheduled, just as it has been done for decades, wartime and peacetime.
Fingers crossed that this remains true.
However, if power stays out for a while, all bets are off.
"“We expect massive power outages throughout the area,” Roker told NBC’s David Gregory (before Gregory hurried to ignore the comment entirely). “As the system moves on shore it’s going to be a long-term effect. It’s going to last for about 72 hours. And so we’re talking about people who could be without power for at least 10 days. That, as you know, will take it right into Election Day. So what will people do if they can’t get to the voting booth, or the voting booths don’t have power?”"

It seems like a pretty big deal.
"Already the storm surge at New York City's Battery is at 6.1 feet, well above last year's peak during Hurricane Irene. Atlantic City is reporting a 5- foot storm surge. New Haven, Conn. is at 5 feet, and Boston has seas 4.2 feet above normal."
Romney doesn't have a chance in Frankenhell to win
Romney may be the first FRANKENSTEIN to run for office, but that doesn't mean that a Frankenstorm will put him there. How absurd this desperate suggestion. The regressive goon stinks.
I figure the storm gives those who don't really want to cast their vote for this collosal idiot, to have a legitimate reason not to, other than that he stinks.
This is a time when all Americans need to come together - and remember what Mitt said just back in June that disaster relief is immoral and FEMA needs to be privatized.
Actually if the storm leads to severe damage with massive power outages for days, even more than a week, the election will likely be postponed. We won't know until this hurricane is over. Obama has a chance to make this his moment and be commander in chief. How Obama handles this disaster could sway the election when it does take place.

You would have to change the law. Fat chance of that happening unless both sides see an advantage.

A full third of Michigan lost power with a thunderstorm in 2008. We did ng have power for 4 days .
Yeah. Atlantic city will have most of it powered tomorrow, water washes in, water washes out. As I daid earlier, might be some minor damage on the coast, but inland it'll be fine. A day without power is nothing.
