I don't think anyone wants to go back... but we need to go back IMO.

The wealthy have increased their earnings at historic rates while middle class rates have steyd the same or decreased.

The middle class drives our economy..

I also know a couple of black people who preferred Hillary over Obama back in the 2008 primaries! Amazingly, these ignorant blacks who don't understand anything (but have mysteriously obtained advanced degrees and hold responsible, well-paying positions) are able to pretend to hold informed conversations with white people about their political preferences and fool us all.
Where were they? Their preferences didn't show up in the polls. The left seems to have a different version of history. So Blacks vote for Black socialists I don't know why folks are working overtime to dispute it.

You mean to tell me a guy who campaigned for Hillary and criticized Obama didn't abandon the Demacratic party altogether once Obama was elected? Wow.. I'm shocked.

I heard Herman Cain gives Obama pizzas for free

Thank you great studier of the negro race.

I love it when non-black people are like black people think like this and I know because I heard one black person say this so that makes it the gospel for the entire black race. Never mind what region of the country that particular black person lives in. Never take into account their socio-economic background...sex or sexual orientation. Never mind if they are American born black...from the W. Indies...Africa...Latin America and so on.

It's like all black people love collard greens...go to church every Sunday...have a picture of MLK right next to the one of white Jesus on their living room wall...are one generation removed from sharecropping or the projects and of course are strictly homophobic.

Thank you...when do you get your degree in Negro studies?

blacks are hard working and want to keep more of their money for their family....but vote for the party that takes more of it
blacks are religious and therefore tend to side with the religious right on many issues privately..but vote for the party that goes against their religious views.
blacks want jobs but have a higher unemployment rate under obama..but voted for him anyway
blacks want a harder stand on illegals due to job competition, but vote for the party that contrast that view

There is a hypocrisy between what blacks say they stand for and the way they live their life and how they vote.
I`ve said it in other threads and I`ll say it again. It`s all about perception and narrative. The dems and the media do a great job of painting the narrative and convincing people that only their party cares about them, when their policies show differently. That`s not hating on anybody. I`m just stating, imo, what I think. So start with the labelling and name calling..racist, bigot, nut, crazy, etc. I believe a lot of blacks support the democratic party in general because that is the underlying narrative in the black community. I think they voted for Obama in droves because he is black. Blacks indentify with race more than whites, I believe. An example would be the O.J. Simpson case. Blacks in general backed and supported the acquital and thought he should have been acquitted, when the evidence and motive showed differently. However, more and more blacks are publicly speaking out against the democratic policies and speaking up for conservative ideas. It`s hard to break away from old traditions. I think if there would have been 2 white guys running for president, more would have voted republican. Because their situation is worse under Obama.

we know who won the Dem nomination....

but Obama didn't get 100% of the black vote in the primaries. Sorry you can't handle seeing 12% of the population lean in a different direction. It happens.

What you need is more people. Get busy!

Is that why the overwhelming majority of blacks back Obama? I'm not a racist by any means and don't want this thread to get out of hand, but 14-1 voting in a presidential election by any race is monumental.

The other main difference between the President and Gov. Romney was political ideology. Obama stands for those who want government to redistribute wealth and provide more goods and services to the electorate while Romney stood for those who want government to downsize. Romney basically campaigned as a JFK of 2012 -- "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." Obama has turned that around.

So why the monumental landslide for Obama by African Americans? Race? Ideology? Something else?
There are buttheads all over the place, black, white, hispanic, christian, muslim etc.

If you only vote black because it is your race, you are a butthead.
If you only vote white because it is your race, you are a butthead.
If you vote christian because....you get the idea.

People should try to put these childish issues behind them and realize that things are not going to change as long as the focus is on race and religion.

Sure people will use the constitution this and that and amendment this and that....but that is just hiding behind something so they won't have to say it out right....I don't like you and your ideas/morals because race and religion/lack of religion.

You were doing well until the third one. Nobody should vote for their race, I agree. But if you vote for a Christian candidate because you are Christian, that's entirely different. You're voting for someone who presumably shares your values, which is a very solid reason for voting for that individual. Race, no. Shared values, yes.

I love topics such as these especially as a Black American because I didn't vote for Obama because he is half Black (and if you want to take it a step further technically speaking he is a Kenyan American we do come from different backgrounds but I relate to him). Why do I relate to Obama because he says what I want to hear. I want to be invested into as an American who values education, I do believe that jobs need to stop being outsourced, I do believe that the wealthy should pay their fair share in taxes (I pay mine just like the rest of the middle class Americans), and Romney didn't have a plan and didn't reach me

My issue with many Republicans, and lot of people who backed Romney, is that he is too far removed from the middle man (just like McCain, just like Bush) that he doesn't get it. It is not just about welfare it is the little benefits that we do have that get stripped away. How does going for big business help most Americans in the long run when those big businesses get shipped overseas? Not to mention, do people realize what Obama is up against. He inherited a war, is stereotyped as the Magic Negroe who can fix everything, is blasted when he makes one wrong step, can't get anything done because of the House of Representatives is Conservative and will block him, so what is he supposed to do.

I knew Romney didn't stand a chance when his own party fact checked him after the debate. When your own party starts to fact check you then it's a done deal. He did it to himself and anyone who watched those debates with a clear mind and wasn't bias in anyway could see that. Lets not forget the comments about the 47% (as if they don't matter). He just isn't my President and he didn't get my vote and that is that.

As it has already been pointed out Black Americans have voted for (the majority of the time) White male candidates with a college education and liberal views. If some people would take the time to see the vitriol spewed by those who back the Republican party and those who are against Obama, you would see why he gets a large backing from so many minority communities.

Good thing nobody is paying you to think for the Black community because you would be broke.

Would it be fair to say that a large number of Whites voted for Bill Clinton, George Bush, and George Bush, Sr because they were White? Oh that would be too far fetched wouldn't it

Why does everything have to be over analyzed, scrutinized, and studied because a Black person did something? What reason would the Hispanic population have to vote for Obama (and try not to mention illegal aliens if you can)? What reason would the Asian population have to vote for him?

Maybe, just maybe, he was voted for by these people because he was the better candidate. Based on the views of Mitt Romney and a lot of his supporters, Black people wouldn't be much better off than with Obama.
