Why are some people so vehemently opposed to someone proving their identity when they come to the polls? If voter ID is so unfair, we should stop demanding IDs when someone buys alcohol, or opens a bank account, or does any of the other myriad activities that require identification.

"the collective" decided that it's only wrong to ask when it comes to voting.
They don't care if you can't get a library card because you have no ID or you can't fly because you have no ID.
But they do care once every 4 years.
I agree. Poor people should be able to save $15 in 4 years so they can go to the DMV to obtain a State ID.
That's only $3.75 per year.
I really have no issue with voter ID; however, I have big issues with expecting people to have to pay for said ID.

As I stated many times on this site before, conservatives attempted to suppress the vote with Voter ID laws. Fortunately it didn't work, so this time lets provide adequate timing (four years) to implement these laws. I was actually surprised when I went to vote because they didn't ask for a ID at all, just a address. So I can understand the need for Voter ID, but as I said above its all about giving adequate timing. I hope you guys continue to push for these laws but not a few months before election but instead as soon as possible.
The law in PA will most likely be enforced the next election.

There isn't a single state that was charging for the ID. If you're going to required ID to vote they HAVE to be given out for free because the argument will be it's poll tax.
Attempting to require these laws directly before election qualifies as voter suppression.
The law in PA was passed in March, how much time do you need to obtain an ID?
In addition to that:
They requested but did not require ID in the primary.
There was massive amount of coverage in the news.
There was a PR campaign.
A letter was sent to every registered voter in the state that did not have a corresponding state ID.
What more do you expect?
