I don't believe in blind faith, I believe in reason. Too many people in this country believe in hocus pocus, and in the same breath trash science. The same science that allows them to climb into a metal tube and fly at over 30,000 feet and over 600 mph. Yeah, keep your crazy religion out of our public policy and government.
Don't play stupid here. You know damned well that the ten commandments were passed down to Moses via God. Where in the ten commandments does it say not to covet your neighbor's farm animals? (although it would be weird if one did). Keep your day job you're no standup comedian.

Keep your crazy atheism out of public policy also. Only and idiot even if not Christian wouldn't be able to see that the ten commandments are a good set of rules to abide by for the good of all humanity.

In other words abandon their principles and become Democats because our society is moving way too far left by drinking the liberal kool-aid? Stop the BS that the GOP is being run by extremist nutjobs. If anything this nation is turning into a society of extremist, so-called progressive nutjobs.

Wrong! Believing in traditional marriage only for a man and a woman does not make one anti-gay. Civil unions as far as I know get the same rights as a real marriage. Why does one have to sacrifice their biblical beliefs in order not to be called anti-gay? You liberals crack me up. No compromise "it's my way or the highway".

Whatever happened to the 'compassionate conservative'? How about that?

The GOP DOES need to refine its message and platform in a way that gets its people elected. If they do not change or get better with their message the evolving demographics of the US will erode their support. I still believe a huge portion of the voters are neither left or right - and the GOP needs to win these voters.

If I could shape the GOP platform and message I would do the following:

1. muzzle the idiots in the party that seem to not understand what rape is
2. acknowledge that our defense budget can and should be cut ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER FEDERAL PROGRAM.
3. give up on gay marriage. I am convinced that much of the US, if not "for" gay marriage is not against it. As part of tax reform, take marriage out of the tax code so it isn't an issue.
4. stand pat on regulation of banking and the finance industry. I see no reason to back off current laws.
5. take leadership on tax reform. The rich will pay more taxes if they lose their special deductions but will accept that because it is really hard to argue against a simpler tax code.
6. maintain an anti-abortion position, but change the discussion to one more like "lets see what we can do to reduce the need for abortion"
7. support comprehensive immigration reform much like what has been proposed. But do not under any conditions allow current legal immigrants to gain citizenship slower than illegals.
8. you can still be pro-religion for those that care, but it is not a federal government issue.
9. tax reform (I said it again). Get serious about this. Get the math done. Phase in over ten years a radical simplification of the tax code.
Addressing #7. Why would any sane politician/party/American support CIR aka amnesty for illegal immigrant to the tune of at least 11-12 million and with 23 Americans out of work? These low income earners would then be able to tap into our already stressed welfare coffers. The added population is already crowding our schools, jails and hospitals. Our resources are being stretched thin for Americans as it is. Our quotas for legal immigration are around 1 million annually and for good reasons. It never makes sense to reward lawbreakers anyway. When does it stop?

That's not what this thread is about. There's about 25 threads on the above topic.

My question - why not run a compassionate conservative in 2016?

LOL, would IYO a compassionate conservative not support making illegal aliens legal? If so, how is what Oldglory said not on topic?

Lol - how do you know that's what a compassionate conservative would support? Maybe they would have some other ideas.

You know what - never mind. Run one of your rabid righties - and lose again in 2016.
