If a Republican wins the cons will say it was a landslide. If a Democrat wins they'll say it was a close race and also that it was stolen
I remember Republicans saying that Bush getting 50.7% of the vote in 2004 was a mandate, yet somehow Obama getting 52.9% of the vote in 2008 and 51.1% of the vote in 2012 was not a mandate.

I do not remember anyone, ever claiming Bush got a mandate: no, 50.7 is not one, you are right, but 51.1 isn't either;;;both were anything but a reason for either party to feel really safe and excited.
I hope the Democrats run our country into the ground by 2016. That way, never again will they be trusted and never again will they be elected.
HA! This is pathetic! What a patriotic American you are!
Let's hope that the other side destroys the country so that they don't win elections anymore. That's so childish and sad. Let me guess, in spite of rhetoric like this, you also believe that President Obama is the one who is "dividing America", right?
Hillary is going to run in 2016, and she'll win too. Big time. Maybe try again in 2024? But, if the R's keep on going the way that they're going (plus with the rapidly changing demographics as well), I don't know if I'd hold my breath on that one either.
BTW, the country is moving in the right direction according to the majority of Americans and things are only going to improve over the next few years. Our economy is set to boom with growth reaching 3-4% annually starting next year. Throw in the shale oil boom that we will experience and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the country to be run "into the ground".
P.S. I'm sure same-sex marriage will be legal by then too, so another big win and a massive step in the right direction for the USA
Can we just get through the 2014 mid term elections before we make predictions about 2016?
Agreed. George W. Bush serving two terms was not forseeable in 1997 and Barack Obama defeating Hillary Clinton and going on to serve two terms was not forseeable in 2005.

you are right, it was his politcal victory address but I still do not consider that, as Republicans saying "the victory was a mandate" as the poster I was replying to claimed. Vicory speeches are meant to excite and terms are used that are not truely meant to be taken seriously. However, if you read what I posted you would see, I said I don't remember Republicans saying this and I don't. I also don't consider Either Bush's win or Obamas as a true mandate, but I guess it does depend on how you discribe mandate.
I predict there will be a large GOP blood letting in the Senate. They had 2 good cycles in a row for that class of Senators and a lot of those folks are not particularly liked or in very difficult blue states. I also expect retirements and primary defeats to hit the GOP hard in 4 years.
