Its clear form his success in easily winning elections that he had no problem beatings Democrats or even some very seriously qualified Republicans. I think he will have a great influence still after leaving office. Success counts and Texas voters are very satisfied except the opposition with his leadership. One only has to look at other governors following much of what he has done. Republicans have had great success in state house elections last few decades and last two election cycles its increased greatly.
Rick Perry Just Announced He will not run for Re-Election For Texas Governor...Is he setting up for 2016 Presidential run or to avoid a Blue Texas Win?
I was waiting to hear what he was going to say. I had a gut feeling he would not run, just from what he said yesterday. I am glad, I think he has served long enough. it is time to give others a shot. As for why, who knows? I don't think he will get far in a Pres. election. He just isn't a good enough speaker under pressure. He is fine when it is one on one, but we all know and he admits it, he isn't a debater and he doesn't do well without preparation. That alone would hurt him.
I sure as hell hope he's the Republican nominee. The comedy factor alone is worth it.
Well, it's true his incompetence never killed an ambassador and 3 others. But go ahead and vote for someone who only had to run one thing in her career, stunk at it and lied about it.
Texas will probably be a swing state in 2016 while NC, VA, FL, OH, and CO will be solidly blue. It's possible we may see Hillary win by a much larger landslide than did Obama. Hillary might also contest Arkansas. It's a red state but they love the Clintons there.
Texas is no where near a swing state. Maybe 8 or 12 years from now, but not in 2016. The other states you mention certainly are or will be. As for AR, of course they love Clinton, but not so much Hillary and they were far removed from a red state back in the 90s. It is just now becoming truly red. We have just elected 3 out of 4 reps and a senator that are Republicans. This is the first time since the civil war. Yes, for Pres. AR goes both ways. Now may I ask you why you are even bringing this up right now. The post is about Perry not running for Governor, it has nothing to do with Hillary.
